FTTH - Vox feedback

I have not tried that, I am now keen to give it a go and see if I still experience the same problem.

Might try with my Billion 8800NXL and see if it makes a difference but I doubt it will make that much of a difference. Speedtests locally give me the full speed so I think something network related as opposed to hardware (router) related.

I thought so as well, but somehow it worked. I really suggest trying, no harm.

Was getting 5Mb/s on london speedtests and full speed on local with the Huawei.. go figure

Oh, that is weird.. I have gotten around 50Mbit to London on my Fibrehoods Vox line with the Hauwei router they provided...
My international downloads also get 6-7 Mbyte/s at least. On occasion goes upto 12Mbyte/s.... I am unsure whether this is due to contention ratios, international servers (doubt it), or some sort of limiting on Vox's side.

These speeds are even with a download manager (IDM). So certainly not due to a lack of connections.

Local speed tests always around upper 90's for both download and upload.

So my internet is super slow, downloading at 1.2Mbyte/s (10Mbit)...

WTF, anyone else having the same issues?

Well at least 6 or 7Mbyte/s, preferably the full 11 or 12Mbyte/s.

I get the full speed from the Nvidia servers, but not from others such as this Ubuntu download:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/15.10/ubuntu-15.10-desktop-amd64.iso?_ga=1.220726872.134656744.1458318001

WHYYYYY. Dammit.

Because the download is dependent on both your bandwidth, the server's bandwidth, distance (latency) and other factors. Using a multi-threaded download client should help with using as much bandwidth as you have available.

I am using a multi-threaded download - Internet Download Manager.

I have downloads in there which I use as a reference to test my download speeds. Normally with Nvidia I always get full line speed. With the ISO I generally get at least get 5Mbyte/s at worst and have gotten full line speed on it before, now I am getting around 1.2Mbyte/s.
I might be wrong but I think one server is EU based and the other US based.

Is this on Telkom Fibre via Vox?
Is so, post the download link and I will try and reproduce the issue :)

No, Fibrehoods via Vox.

Try these two ISO's and see what speeds you get on Telkom FTTH via Vox:

http://dl.amnesia.boum.org/tails/stable/tails-i386-2.2/tails-i386-2.2.iso
http://releases.ubuntu.com/15.10/ubuntu-15.10-desktop-amd64.iso?_ga=1.220726872.134656744.1458318001

I find those two downloads to be rather consistent and with both I am getting slower speeds than usual, a lot slower.

Also dragging along here with Vox and Fibrehoods... Some downloads fly as well as 1080p youtube and then others barely getting 200kb/s must be a reason for it.

Vox never answered my FTTH enquiry. So Vox can go jump :erm:

Well I logged a call with Vox and someone called me lat night only to see if I was still having issues. Everything is back to normal and fast now and they cannot tell me why it was slow.

Oh well, sigh. It happens I guess and to get an actual explanation will be near impossible.

The fibre must have been saturated from all the rain:D

Im on Telkom FTTH with Vox, and internet has been up and down today.

At the moment im getting 90Mbps download using speedtest.net to a local cellc server, but international im only getting 8Mbps max. My PSN download is also sooooooooooooo slow.

Anyone else having issues today? Is it just an international speed issue?
