Fuel consumption

A good site for checking up on real world fuel economy is spritmonitor.de
It allows one to do decent research often better than sites like fuelly.com

Why is it better than Fuelly?

well you can search by model of vehicle by Kw rating which means you can really drill down to a specific vehicle much better than with fuelly and also I think they have more data.
If you are looking for good consumption data on a specific car you will often find spritmonitor does the job better than fuelly

Drove a rental polo tsi today, caned it whenever I wasn't stuck in traffic, returned just over 5l/100km. This thing is frugal as hell and still showing over 600 km range to empty. Will check its tank size when I fill up later in the week.

What engine does it have?

1 litre tsi yes, if it's a 45 litre tank that's super good at over 800kms on that little fuel.

Aha, what are your thoughts on the poverty spec model? We know it is frugal...

It's not a bad drive, spec wise it's really bad though. Drives like a big car, soakes up the crappy roads here really well.

I wouldn't mind driving one as a daily but it would have to be comfortline spec.

And it pulls bloody well, overtaking is a breeze. Wasn't expecting that from an engine this small.

I also like the stop start thing, works unobtrusively.

Oh, and the buttons on the screen are supee small, you have to take your eyes off the road a lot if you want to change anything.

Back to reality. From doing 700 on 35 litres, to doing 900 on 62.5

Almost double the fuel for 200 km's more.

It's a ranger yes, I wouldn't change the ranger for the polo though, it's juat too small. Still a bit sad looking at how much more expensive the bakkie is to run.

Looks like a Ford Ranger. Isn't too bad considering the size of the vehicle

Yeah, it's a bit better now that I know the vehicle and the kilos is a bit more. Was closer to 9.5l/100 at the beginning.
