Full Vodacom iPhone 6 contract prices

Yes, voice is still used, but unlimited voice is only needed for a small percentage of customers.

The average Vodacom contract customer uses 182 minutes per month (down from 189 in 2013 and 209 in 2012).

I think in due course we will also follow the American model of free voice calls. I get 75 minutes which is enough for me anyway.

Go ahead and ask the mobile networks that ,they obviously know who and that's why they released unlimited voice contracts for close to R2000 pm.

If nobody needed voice anymore then they wouldn't have bothered(all 4 of them btw)

I wasn't being serious with my comment :)
I don't make voice calls. Hell, I rarely answer voice calls. If you don't have the decency to contact me in a asynchronous manner, there is not much chance of me answering

It is because you don't know better.

Educate me please.

I can make phone calls, browse internet, take pics/videos, play the odd game, use messaging services like whatsapp, use GPS, send sms's, use it as mobile hotspot, play music/radio.

What do people do with these new phones? I have a PC and laptop to do more intense stuff.

Unless you have decent wifi at work, home or school or jail (high five to Oscar!), any data deals less than 1gig are limiting.

It is about the user experience mate. I can do all of the above on my iPhone 4 but I upgraded to the iPhone 6. Better hardware, better software, better form factor etc. It is similar to getting from point A to B in a VW Beetle but with a new VW Golf Gti you just do it so much better and in style. You can carry on using your old smart phone, I just think you are doing yourself a big disservice.

Unless you abuse apps and games and porn and youtube. 500MB is sufficient for mail and whatsapp.

Imagine now people being able to get a large screened iphone for the same price as a top end android ? This is when iphone finally makes giant moves in the country with only a few fandroid geeks holding firm ?

It's all subjective. People do feel as though their new phones are faster than their old phones. This is because after a couple years the old phones have bloatware and other accumulated junk. So they forget that their old phones were almost just as fast two years ago. I keep my Galaxy S1 in top shape by not installing junk and clearing the cache/memory etc. often. It works just as well as the day I bought it. I admit many people don't know how to keep their hardware in top shape and thus upgrade unnecessarily. You can save a lot of money by knowing how to keep your hardware clean. This applies to other things like PC's and laptops as well.

Following your car analogy, it's like someone buying a Golf6 GTI and not taking it for services or maintaining it and then spending a ton a couple years later to get a Golf7 GTI because their old car feels slow.

Then I am a below average customer. I have had a cellphone since 1999 and in all those years I have only once used more than 100 minutes in a month. Peoples needs differ.some need lots of talktime and little data. Some need lots of data and little talk time. So a wide variety of contracts is best.

I agree.

I prefer having the choice of a R200 contract with little minutes, than being forced to take a R500 contract with unlimited minutes.

Agreed on your above point, minutes means very little these days. I find myself using WhatsApp voice notes more often than making a call.

Last year VC added additional data to the contracts. Any chance of that happening again?

Out of my budget, unless they make the 64GB free on Red Advantage.

You say that like they're holding back to the screen size alone ?

I think most Android users will jump when the OS at least matches

In what way doesn't it match ?

99.9 percent of people couldn't give a toss if they can't customize their phone more than the back ground. ios is certainly a superior operating system in that is runs super smooth and lightning fast compared to android. Even on devices with far lower hardware specs. And let's face it. Every android experience is the same and getting stale.

Can you dial out from whatsapp directly on iOS?Can you plug in your iphone into any pc and use it as a mass storage device? There are many other instances I could point out but you seem to be very biased based on your responses on Apple devices.

I use both iOS and android and both have their positives and negatives, you seem unwilling to admit android is much more flexible, why do people go so Apple crazy?

Oh and I don't go around customising the crap out of my android devices, that's just a stereo type on the forum because most here are tech inclined so tend to want to fidget, but yes most android users couldn't bother but they do enjoy things like widgets etc still, that's not crazy customisation that's just convenience.
