Futubox

@CraigS2

You can make this SD as well and test that out. Also the other sports are ESPN America and EuroSport.

Thanks, but with a 100 inch projector screen SD doesnt look all that great. lol HD is what I'm after! I'll check out those other two sports channels tonight. I don't have much hope that they'll cover rugby/cricket though. ESPN especially.

I see this works on XBMC.My Apple TV is running XBMC, so if this works on that fantastic!
Simply amazed at all the alternatives to DSTV if you do a little research.

Seems to work well on my Mac and on my Win 7 XBMC Asus eeeBox media centre.

On 10 Meg line with 10 Meg Mweb uncapped.

Every now and again a small stutter like some others have noticed.

Very impressed.

Just wish it was more polished, on XBMC you have to scroll through a list of text streams.

A plug-in or TV guide app for XBMC would be brilliant.

\well I am not even able to load the "evaluate" video on the site, on 10mbps uncapped afrihost account. I have been looking for UK channels for a while now. Does anyone know how I can get a service that has channel 4 as well?

I will post a guide here on how to get EPG with the streams.

OK so i moved from Home Uncapped to Business Uncapped from AfriHost and SD is the only streams that work for me 95% of the time and i do get a small stutter now and then.

Also i have noticed certain channels are worse then others. Most of the SKY Channels i will give a 96% rate of smooth playing and Comedy Central, FOX 90% smooth playing.

If someone is closer then 2KM to there Exchange let me know what you are getting as i am 2.6KM +- away so HD will not work for me.

LTE Still going to test.

The German channels are really excellent quality.

Guess I won't need the German DSTV bouqet anytime soon and my Dad will be spending more time at my place. Lol.

Very very impressed. Welcome to the future of TV - sort of.

That stuttering would annoy the hell out of me, I get stutter on 4mb business uncapped line with IS.

All in all, after another night of messing around with settings etc, I'm impressed as well. Server 2 seems to work the best for me, although server 4 gets the best test results. Hardly any stutters now which is great. Between Sky sports 1 and Eurosport, I just hope they cover the rugby (super 15) and cricket world cup!

I tried this last night and found stuttering quite bad - unwatchable. What settings are you referring to.

Like Hemps, I too am on a 4mb business uncapped connection.

How did you get this to work on XBMC?

Thumbs up ! Would really be awesome.

How to Guide on Live TV addon with futubox playlist and EPG.

Download pvr:simple XBMC addon from:

https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B42OdYa12czTZ2huWjNIV0hYR0U/edit

This add on works well for internet streams

Download XMLTV GUI form here:
http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/xmltvgui_3.14.01W.exe this software will be used to grab epg data for the English channels.

Follow the guide here

http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

and XML format which you will use later. The epg data should look like below when you open with wordpad

<tv>

<display-name lang="en">Channel 1</display-name>

<display-name lang="en">Channel 2</display-name>

...
<programme start="20130215080000 +0100" stop="20130215081500 +0100" channel="id1">

News

</programme>
<programme start="20130215080500 +0100" stop="20130215083500 +0100" channel="id2">

Movie

</programme>
...
</tv>

I am sure most of you can install an addon on XBMC, so install the pvr:iptv simple addon
Set Up XBMC's PVR Add-On

After installing, Go to system Enabled Add-ons-> PVR Clients. Double-click and select configure.
Play List settings:

This is where you will import your playlist. Select local path and click on M#U Play List Path to select your playlist. Before doing this, you must have must have edited your playlist to look like the code below. You can use any text editor to open .m3u files and edit them.

Code:

#EXTM3U tvg-shift=3
#EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="id1" tvg-name="Channel_1" tvg-logo="logo1" group-title="Group 1",Channel 1
http://STREAMURL
#EXTINF:-1 tvg-id="id2" tvg-name="Channel_2" tvg-logo="logo2" group-title="Group 2",Channel 2
udp://STREAMURL

- tvg-id is value of channel id in EPG xml file. If the tag is absent then addon will use tvg-name for map channel to EPG;
- tvg-name is value of display-name in EPG there all space chars replaced to _ (underscore char) if this value is not found in xml then addon will use the channel name to find correct EPG.
- tvg-logo is name of channel logo file without extension (.png). If this tag is absent then addon will use channel name to find logo.
- tvg-shift is value in hours to shift EPG time. This tag can be used in #EXTM3U for apply shift to all channels or in #EXTINF for apply shift only to current channel.
- group-name is channels group name. If the tag is absent then addon will use group name from the previous channel.

EPG Settings:
Also choose local path and point to the XML file on your local drive.

Enabling the PVR:
head to Settings > Add-Ons > Disabled Add-Ons. Head to PVR Clients, and select the one for your program (in this case, PVR IPTV Simple Client). Choose Enable.
Go back to XBMC's Settings and choose Live TV. Under General, check the Enabled box, and tweak any other settings you want here.

If you go back to the main menu, you should see a new section called "Live TV" where you can watch shows, see an episode guide.

not cool. It lists FX HD on the channels list before sign up...guess they meant fox. Ah well.

Nice service, not enough channels. Some decent ones, but I need channel 4, and FX if possible.

@digitalp

What is package that you are on with Telkom 10MB is it an unshapped account ?

Also do you want in SD or HD / Using Windows, Linux Or OpenElec to watch these streams / Do you have any stuttering every few minutes on SD or Bad ones on HD. / What is ur distance from your exchange.

I am trying to pin point what the issues could be on my side and most people.

Thanks again
BB

use a british VPN(http://www.expatshield.com/). go to filmon.com there you will find channel 4. there is a pc app for this and an XBMC addon.

Thanks. I will give this a try over the weekend.

So far, quite impressed with Futubox quality, not really having any issues on HD, I get a stutter once in a while, but only momentarily. Hoping I can finally catch some Ice hockey again, and the football of course. I reckon they should show First division on one of the sky channels.
