Kit Kat for P601 in China is been rolled out...
Hi. I am looking for some advice. I have an Ipad 2 which I want to replace with this Note. I have a S3 so I am familiar and happy with android. I use the tablet mostly for Internet browsing and streaming using the Supersport app. Find that the S3 rarely buffers while the Ipad buffers quite often. I can also stream mkv movies from my server with no buffer on s3 but not with Ipad. Really appreciate some advice.
Would I recommend it? Yes. Use mine daily and love it. I mentioned earlier that I use a battery saver app, and I think its vital to have one otherwise my tablet needed charging daily(now its every 4-5 days depending on usage).
Something you must take note of is that Samsung hasn't really got the software completely stable. Mine used to be laggy and the touchscreen used to be very glitchy, but ever since the 4.4 update it's been a dream! If you read the post above you, you will see the complete opposite. Mine was a P601 though.
I would choose the Note over the iPad anyday. There is so much more you can do with it, in my opinion. S-pen works great and I use it for note taking quite a bit. Also, I have the official note 10.1 2014 case (around 500-600) and it works great. Would recommend it.
Think it's called DS battery saver (free version - set to switch on data once ever 30 min)Which battery saver app are you using?
Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 LTE Edition (SM-P605) Now Getting KitKat, Currently Hitting Nordic Countries
"Samsung has been dabbling around with the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 LTE Edition's KitKat update for a while now, first rolling out the update to the Wi-Fi only version of the tablet several weeks ago. Now SamMobile reports that the LTE Edition, SM-P605, is getting its taste of Android 4.4 now in select countries. The first up are those in the Nordic region such as Denmark and Finland, with more on the way."

Out of curiosity, for those who did not get their devices from Vodacom, is it also carrier branded i.e bundled apps and changes to boot screen?
No. Every device I've received from MTN was unbranded.
Good to know, thanks. Does it however mean that updates are received straight from the manufacturer or still from MTN?
I can tell you that my MTN P605 is a few updates behind the rest of the world. Haven't had one update since January and the rest of the world got an update some time in Nov/Dec that enables multiple user accounts.

Hate safari on the ipad for that very reason. I can undoubtedly say that the browsers on android work much better. You have 4 or 5 good ones to choose from and can make your pick for the one that suits your needs best(speed vs sync vs many features etc)I have an ipad 3, but want to change to an android tablet.main thing I use my ipad for is web browsing. I find safari is crap, it can't handle multiple tabs open without reloading tabs when you go back to them, slow to use etc. also magazine PDFs can be slow to load in the Adobe PDF reader.
Would you say my concerns will be fixed by changing. Am I better of waiting for the new s tabs that have just come out. My brother is in the states for the next 2 weeks so was going to ask him to bring me back a refurbished one for only 300usd.

You would not really lose out on getting the current 10.1 2014 tablet as (after the update!) it's running like a dream.
