This whole 'night data' is irritating though. At night I'm always connected to wifi so it will go to waste.
The prepaid price seems to be around the 8500 mark (digital wolf) so this MTN deal does not seem to bad seeing that you have data + local warranty. Waiting on "bfore" to see their pricing the well make a final decision

Just ordered mine from MTN Store ... now I wait

Let us know if they give you an estimated delivery date so we have an idea of the release date. It would be really good if they have stock. At least we would not have to wait till next year.

I phoned around to 3 or 4 shops to inquire about whether or not they had stock and none had, but they all quoted a delivery time of around a week, so next week is my guess.

The irritating thing was having to clarify that the Note 10.1 they all, without fail, claimed to have stock of, was the 2014 edition (it course wasn't).

Basically, it does appear that we will not have to wait until next year.

I just browsed the store and tried looking for the tablet. I couldnt seem to find it. They did however have the Galaxy tab 3 10.1.

Just double check that they were not referring to the tab 3. Just make sure that the model number you are looking for is the P605.

That's basically what I was referring to when I made them confirm that we were talking about the same thing. Some thought I was talking about the Tab 3, others thought I was talking about the original Note 10.1. The Note 10.1 2014 IS now available, although it's not listed on the interactive menus (which I've always found horribly outdated anyway), and of course, the stock is yet to be delivered to the stores. The link to the december brochure is posted above (http://www.mtndeals.co.za/pdf2013/december/YellowTraderDec.pdf) , which is the PDF version of the printed copies delivered to the stores yesterday, the note 10.1 P6050 is very clearly there, on page 15.

Which one is it? The 16gb or 32gb one?

Don't know, but don't really care. Not planning on using it to store huge files / quantities. I have an MTN uncapped lite sim that I plan on putting in it, so anything that I want to store, I'll store on the cloud. That all being said, I suspect it's the 16gb one, I can't see it being the 32gb at this price.

I noticed a few local online stores have it in stock now (P601 as well as the P605). Just finding out about what storage space is on the devices they are selling. Would be great if they are al 32gig and in black.

Sigh....I emailed the first store and they mentioned that there is no stock at the supplier. It looks like once an order is placed, then they would order the device from the suppliers.

Here are the links below:

Funny how the P605 is cheaper than the P601

Comx-Computers
P605 for R9565.00

Yeah MTN really seems like the better deal right now. Amazing how we get ripped off for electronics here. It makes me wonder what the cost price of the tablet really is. Would be way cheaper to order from a supplier if we had the option.
