I am slightly worried about performance although most reviews I have read suggest that the lag is due to a software issues which should hopefully be resolved soon. The thing is a powerhouse spec wise.

I don't have a tablet currently. In my previous job I had access to a iPad 2 and 7" Galaxy Tab 2 and although they were fun in the beginning I soon got board of them. With the addition the S-Pen and maturity of the apps I think it may be worth revisiting although it is a lot of cash.

Picture quality is really good. I had it side by side with my iPad 3 which has a retina display and its slightly sharper.

I would say that you should play around with one before spending the cash or binding yourself to a contract. Depending on peoples needs, they have different opinions about the tablet. If you're really stylus dependent and love to draw, sketch, take notes etc, this is a really good device.

I know a lot of people who bought this and have hardly used the s-pen. The slight lag people speak about isn't bad at all. When i got my tablet i was expecting it to be a lot worse. I switched off all the unnecessary sensors and stuff that slowed it down. Works perfectly for me. Besides this, i heard of an upcoming update which addresses performance.

Like i said, best thing is to play around and get your own opinion of the device. Just take into consideration whether you plan to use the stylus more often or not as well.

Incredible connection suprisingly the only place I could find one. Was R169. A lot of money yes, but as someone mentioned it is essential. Id rather spend that money and keep my tablets screen in pristine condition. Someone also mentioned that the protector slows down finger swipes and typing. My experience so far is that it does that for the first two days after which everything feels normal again. It could be that i've adjusted to the feel of it but I don't think so as im very picky with these kind of issues.

I agree. It's all about your needs from the tablet.

If you don't like messing around with the UI and customising it and your only real needs are dependant on the apps then go for the Ipad Air. I played around with it at the istore and it is a good device as you would expect from Apple, much lighter than the Ipad 4. The reason I bought the note instead of the ipad is because you are restricted down to the last icon of what you can and cannot customise. I also hate the fact that you need itunes for everything and all videos need to be converted before loading to the ipad.

The note to me just seemed a better choice as I would be using it for research as well as document editing. What clinched it for me is the multi window function where you could watch a youtube video on one half of the screen while making hand written notes on the other side, invaluable in terms of organisation.

Is the screen protector you have specifically for the 2014 edition? Or is it a tab3 which fits onto the 2014 edition. Is yours by any chance a crystal clear screen protector or a matte one?

I agree with you on a screen guard working better after 2 days.

Definitely for the 2014 edition, I made sure. If someone can tell me how to load a picture onto my comment I'll post a pic later tonight (relatively new to the forums). Its the crystal clear one, more specifically says color enhancer on the packaging. I actually prefer the matte finish but cannot find it anywhere.

Oh by the way to everyone i've asked importitall to post links to two covers which in my opinion seems a great addition to the tablet. One is the original Samsung original branded cover ( http://www.importitall.co.za/Samsun...Fold-for-101-Tablet--Black-ap-B00FJE758W.html) and the other rooCASE branded ( http://www.importitall.co.za/rooCAS...ion-Case--BLACK-With-Auto--ap-B00FPT4Q06.html). Big price difference, would like the original but I'm going with the rooCASE.

Something else I forgot to mention the screen guard for the tab 3 won't work for the note in anycase as the dimensions differ. Tried to fit a body glove case for the tab 3 on my note and it's too small. So just a heads up to anyone that's interested.

Don't even bother looking there are none at the moment. Anything you find is going to be imported. Cellucity told me that they are going to wait to see what the demand is like before stocking the accessories. Makes no sense at all but that's SA for you.

Screen response is fine on mine only lag when waking up from lock screen. I think there is an OTA update which SA has not yet received. I've been reading the thread for this tablet on the xda developers forum and seems that we are yet to receive the latest update, not too sure maybe someone can confirm.
 
Anyone have their battery usage stats yet from 100% battery?

I've been following it too.. There is an update, and you can do it offline but it'll void your knox warranty if I read the dev forum correctly

Having this problem. Took it to Samsung, but its very intermittent so they couldn't emulate it at their centre. A restart would fix it so it definitely is a FW issue. I re-loaded the firmware at the service center and it seems to be fine for the past two days.

Btw love this device. Only problem I have with the body glove case I have is the I use my tablet flat on a surface and it's angle means I have to use it with the keys upside down.

Surely that has to be a rip-off. Well i've ordered a rooCASE so I suppose i'll have to wait patiently till the day I can proudly walk around with my note.
