Hi guys

I am having some funny issues with my gaming PC. I played GTA 5 last night and it runs at about 140FPS which is awesome.
The issue comes in when I have lag spikes when I am playing and sometimes it freezes for a second or two.

Maybe someone here would might know the issue. I will put down my PC spec below. I am not sure if it is my GPU, it hits about 85 degrees as it is a founders card and they all have the same thermal issue.

CPU: i5 6600K
RAM: 8GB DDR4 3200MHZ
GPU: GTX 1080 Founder edition
Main HDD: 240GB SSD
2TB game HDD

Thanks :)

May not be the game, could be a virus scanner or another background process using CPU or bandwidth or something.

I had an issue with my LAN port on the mobo - house was hit by lightning and ruined the router and LAN port even though device manager found no issues with the port. Had lag spikes every once in a while very similar to what you are experiencing. Disabled the port and solved the issue.

I have Razor Cortex running in the background which kills all programs that are not needed when gaming.

And I have the standard windows defender on

I can try that. Thanks :D

I don't think I ever got hit by lighting but worth the try

How old is your SSD?

A friend had similar issues on CSGO.
Started freezing a few seconds. Got so bad a few seconds turned into several seconds.

Turned out to be a faulty SSD

It is about just over 2 years. I don't play often but when I do. It doesn't seem to be lacking in speed

Have you tried different sessions in GTA?

Connected via Lan cable to the router or wirelessly? Could be packet loss.

Keep the task manager an or resource monitor open in the background whilst playing, once the symptom occurs, go investigate.

Please don't start that schite... that whole argument is bs and has been disproven countless times.
