Coming from a 70D I'm sure the upgraded AF system will already be a massive improvement for me whichever way I go.

But I have to say even with the 70D I had very little missed action shots due to focusing issues. I guess it helps quite a bit that I mostly use F2.8 L glass in front of it.

What I did however find, especially with our recent camping trips, was that the 70D struggled quite a bit during very low light shots. Experienced plenty of hunting and inaccurate focusing when it did eventually decide on a subject.
 
The price of 2hnd 5D MkIII's seem to often dip below R20k these days, sometimes with very low mileage, that may be a better option than a 6D MKII. I've seen a few in the Odp classifieds and probably a good few going on the various groups on Facebook.

Check Amazon too. I bought a lens from them, certified refurbished (at much lower price than available locally) and have no regrets. Maybe there are certified refurbished camera bodies too, cheap cheap.
 
Fark it. I did it.

No turning back now. Cashback claim already done too.

Went for the kit with the 24-70 F4 after wife said she would add some pocket money as an early Xmas gift.

The more I think about it the more I would never have justified paying the extra R20k just for getting better hobby photos.
And now glad I did it so that I could at least score the R6k cashback.

I just bought two Amazon Basics flashes - only $29 each so not a bank breaker if they suck.

Also ordered a Mavic Air but I'll only get that in the new year.

Ooh do let us know what you think of the flashes once you have used them, I also would like to buy.

BTW has anybody noticed that we can't buy camera batteries of Amazon? None seem eligible for delivery to SA. Its a shame, coz they are a helluva lot cheaper than what we would have to pay here. Would love to get another two.

They're a bit of an experiment - figured at the very least they'd be worthwhile remote flashes.

You can't ship loose li-ion batteries anymore.
 
My camera got knocked out of my hand at the soccer last night - hood for my 24-105 shattered but the Gloxy flash I had on took the brunt of the fall. Had to get an interim replacement for it today and ended up with a Pixel 900C. http://www.pixelhk.com/products/show/226

Seems decently solid but I'll only be putting it through its paces tomorrow night.

My previous flash was a gloxy. Wasn’t a bad flash at all. Zoom motor was a little noisy but I tended not to use it much anyway.

This Pixel cost about R3000 and seems to have a lot of bells and whistles including a LED for video.

That's not bad at all. Specs look totally overkill for my needs but I can live with having too much power. But not with too little!

But now I can only find Nikon version or Twin Pack for Canon. Will keep looking

For those interested: Studio22 has the Nikon version on clearance sale for R2700.

Hi guys - On BF I bought a Canon 2000d camera with dual lens kit for hobby photography.

I'm going to need a sturdy camera bag for the camera plus two lenses. I'd like a backpack but anything will actually do. Not looking to spend thousands but I do want something that's going to keep the camera safe when traveling.

I'd appreciate any ideas.

Not breaking the bank but still good quality.

Will be perfect for your needs.

I can't remember my current model number but it was around R2k when I picked it up on special on Takealot.

Held my Canon 70D, 70-200 F2.8, 18-135mm, 50mm, 24mm, flash, laptop, chargers, extra batteries and cards and still had space left. All while being very comfortable on my back or over shoulder. And padding is decent so I never worry about the odd bump here or there.

It will now hold my new setup after I pulled the trigger on the 6D Markii last week.
