Kenya wants to ban 6 ‘pro-gay’ cartoons aired on DStv

Cape Town – Kenya's censors have abruptly banned 6 alleged "pro-gay" kids cartoons on Nickelodeon (DStv 305) and Cartoon Network (DStv 301) and ordered MultiChoice to immediately stop showing these cartoons on DStv that is "normalising, glamorising or even glorifying homosexual behaviour" and damaging "family".

Kenya is following Nigeria's censorship move where TV-bans on content in that country on channels ranging from Nickelodeon and E! Entertainment to TLC Entertainment have seen content being removed from MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform for the entire African content and affecting all of the continent's viewers since the channels often only have one channel feed for Africa.

Dstv bans any LGBT content if the same stream is shared with other backward shithole African countries.

They have banned Caitlyn Jenner's show(E) , I am Jazz(Tlc), a disney show that has a gay character & a few cartoons.

No, DSTV did not ban the shows, the Governments in the country ordered them to do so. MC is not empowered to play Censor.

The Steve Hofmeyer case is, as far as I know, the first time MC has done this of their own accord.

But seeing as you now have raised this, where is the SJW outrage for being blatantly against LBGTs???

No, MultiChoice caved into political pressure from those shithole countries & it was also removed from South Africa.


Multichoice sways wherever political pressure wind blows Except with the Zuptas channel, they rode that out till the Guptas were done leeching of the country.

Kenya requests a ban, Multichoice says" how high "& even removes it from a country like SA.

How is this not a ban?
 
You guys must do more than just cancel DSTV or not go to Loftus. Talking hunger strikes, marches or chaining yourself to the gates around Multichoice offices.
 
Tell your friends, family, granny, dog, whoever about Uncapped Rain Lte, Netflix @R99pm & Openview decoder for when Rain isnt accessible.

That is a more practical way of killing off DSTV.

Once people are accustomed to streaming ad free & whenever, the rain limitations don't seem so restrictive.

Do you have a problem reading? MC did NOT initiate the Ban, they were told to do so. And because the feed is common to all the countries, we were also exposed to the ban. Unless MC separate the satellite feeds, there is no chance that that situation will change in the near future either. So, effectively, SA citizens are being censored by any country in the MCs coverage area on some channels.

MC operates in ALL the countries it does at the behest of the Governments of those countries via a Broadcast Licence, awarded to them with licence conditions.
Do you understand what that means? MC cannot tell them to **** off. All they can do is either challenge the order in court or say Yes Sir!

DSTV stopped showing a show where the title character was Satan or something.
 
Of course. the Law of the land means squat in the new SA. That is why we are where we are as a country. Wonderful attitude to have.
 
Such a pity.... his career was almost mercifully dead, until he realised he could use whiteness angst as a way to sell concert tickets.

I can understand the sentiment behind destroying DSTV decoders (if only because MonoChoice charges far too much for DSTV Premium etc), but destroying the dish is a dumbass move as that same dish can still be used with an OpenView decoder (as crap as the content is on OVHD it is still free and can supplement streaming services).

That said, I would have tried selling the decoder to Cash Converters or whatever before destroying it, IIRC I gave my DSTV decoder away many years ago.
