In my opinion DSTV are the racists in the manner that they are handling the Steve Ofmeyer situation. How many politicians and other black people have made terrible racist comments against the white population? Yet none of this was ever suggested against them! Why now against Steve? Because he is white? DSTV must be careful because this situation might backlash against them in due time as I believe they are upsetting a lot of people. I hope that some wealthy business man would start a new, non partisan TV station. Their basket prices are exhobirant considering what they offer the public.

I think the worst think I heard is that silencing Steve Hofmeyr is an attack on Afrikaans people. People are essentially admitting they share his views and implying that racism is part of Afrikaans identity.

So here is the difference, BLF and EFF - disgusting as their views are, they are politicians. The same as Donald Trump was able to spew that garbage during his campaign, same applies here. If Julius and Trump were PRIVATE CITIZENS expressing those views in a PRIVATE CAPACITY, it would be hate speech and equality courts would be all over them. If Hofmeyer wants to spread a message that black people were the architects of apartheid, he must form a political party and see if he can get into parliament with that rhetoric

They are behaving exactly like Facebook and Twitter now. Banning someone who doesnt agree with their agenda

It was the pressure of the public against the channel that eventually led to the channel being let go. Plenty of examples of black private individuals who spread racism yet get off with a slap on the wrist. If I'm not mistaken one or two were actually MC employees in a way yet nothing happened to them.

Again I draw attention to the fact. First person with a R150k fine a white women. First person to get a 3 year prison sentence for crimen injuria again a white woman. Sadly I don't expect the same ruling to ever apply to blacks.

Some of the people here have selective memory.

DSTV did not cave into public pressure regarding ANN7, they waited out the contractual period, no bank wanted to touch the Guptas, they were even unable to pay salaries.

The Gupta ship was sinking at the time & ownership was eventually transferred to Jimmy Myani.

DSTV gave zero ****s about that petition that requested the removal of ANN7 or the many people voicing their opinions.

DSTV would have continued broadcasting ANN7 if the Gupta empire still had influence in SA.

Don't get it twisted. Dstv is hardly the moral compass of SA.

MC is listed separately from Naspers already. A move quite a few of us predicted 3 years ago already when the rot started to set in. Many of us on the old MC forum were getting increasingly P22ssed off by the laxisidasical tendencies emerging in how the decoder upgrades were being handled, and the terrible shortcuts that were starting to be taken on operational issues. Pretty hotly debated privately.
