Good Cheap Android Phone Recommendations

Must it be on Vodacom?

Go check out the Redbull clearance sale on phones with CellC.

They have the best voice and data rates, and you get an U8800 "WaWay" (Huawei)

R100 = R115 airtime + 100sms, 15c/mb and 99c /min p sec OOB

Or get a prepaid and look at 8ta for some prepaid phones. They used to have the Xperia Arc for R1500 something

I got a Huawei phone for my wife from CellC last week. In the end we decided on a pre-paid phone since it appeared to offer the safest bet

The new Vodacom deal, as from the 4th:

SAMSUNG GALAXY POCKET BLACK OR WHITE @ R 79 P/M REDUCED SUB ON TOP UP 99 VODACOM4LESS

The Nokia Lumia 610 looks good at R135 a month on Smart Light.

The Samsung Pocket's 2.8'' display might just be too small to be useful.

Doesn't have to be Vodacom, but have an old Voda Prepaid sim already.

best deal on Cell C is the Samsung S5660 Galaxy Gio RED BULL MOBILE TopUp 150 R150 airtime 50 SMS pm
R149pm x 24 ONCE-OFF PAYMENT: R114 SIM & CONNECTION FEE

SAMSUNG GALAXY POCKET BLACK OR WHITE @ R 79 P/M REDUCED SUB ON TOP UP 99 VODACOM4LESS
Sounds very good..

SAMSUNG P1000 GALAXY TAB
R135 PM x 24 Months on Vodacom Smart Light Incl. 100 MB DATA PER MONTH + 100 SMS PER MONTH
FREE SIM, FREE connection and FREE delivery on new contracts

I've Been using a very Good Cheap and quality android phone for the last couple months called Original Lenovo S920 it's really great with good performances , but here is my advice don't buy any phone without reading some honest reviews , Then good luck with that.

My wife finally put her ailing BB to rest and got herself a Huawei Y300, sommer from Jet stores for R1000. I have been using a Huawei P6, which is in for repairs, cracked screen. I had no trouble installing BBM, Whatsapp and Facebook plus the necessary Office apps and a Android version of her favourite PC game Zuma. It still had about 700Mb left to install apps. It is not as smooth as my P6, don't have Android 4.2.2 and don't have a lot of memory but I hate this phone because while setting it up I realized that I could easily live with it and it cost less than the screen repair on my P6 !

Check out the mtn Steppa. Costs R499.

There's a thread dedicated to it on the forum

We considered the Steppa ,Huawei Y220 and Y300. I doubt that there would be any support for the Steppa, the Y220 also has Android 2.3.5 so at the end we talked her into the Y300 with 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

Yep, same reason I got my mom the y300 as well.

Wife's got the Samsung Galaxy Pocket.

Nice phone, but for me the screen's a wee bit too small...

Comparision : Samsung Galaxy i9000 on left, Pocket in middle, Afrihost mifi on right
