N5, Lollipop 5.0.1, LTE and don't have any issues.I notice that I randomly lose signal.
Has anyone else ever experienced this?
Is it an Nexus 5 thing, Lollipop thing, or is it because my sim is configured for LTE?

Vodacom.Which network and which variation of the Nexus 5? D820 or D821?
Oh, and I saw the "red" version of the Nexus 5 today. That thing be orange. Not sure what Google are smoking.
Either way, it looks awesome.
Vodacom.
D820.
That's your problem right there. The D820 does not support LTE band 3, which Vodacom uses.
Also, both Telkom Mobile (band 40) and MTN (band 3) use bands that are unsupported by it. Basically, no LTE on the D820 in South Africa.
How does one tell the difference between a D820 and a D821?

Glad I'm in JHB... I'd buy thatSaw one for sale last Friday at Cash Crusaders in Cape Town CDB when I walked pass. R2999.
Any work around for this, as in disabling LTE?
Three ways that I know of.
First, go to Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode and selecting WCDMA (preferred) / GSM. If that doesn't work (even though it should), dial *#*#4636#*#*, scroll to Phone Info, and under Radio, change the type to WCDMA preferred.
Third option, if rooted, is to install Nexus 5 Field Test and disabling LTE through it. But I'd be wary of that app, it's got the potential to really stuff up your device.

Resist the temptation of doing business with the OrangeZA store (and it's still Expansys UK behind the scenes).
I don't agree with that comment, I have had nothing but awesome service from them, your more than welcome to handle the RDA if something goes wrong by yourself too,
