im using google voice on my hero.... you just say the phrase or whatever and its pretty darn fast. i think you confusing good software vs old rubbish software
 
It doesnt mention playing mp3 anywhere. Or I missed it. On that count it fails. The reason, I bought an iPhone was that it combined by mobile with my iPod.

Its so darn obvious, that there's no need to even mention it. Or do apple fanbois think they're the only ones able to play mp3s on their phones?
 
i have a feeling HTC is not going to make a better phone for google than their own, hence the single touch etc. hence the old trackball too
 
It's an open source system. There'll be loads of mp3 playing apps available for it (free).
That said, I'd be surprised if there isn't one included.

Strange that that graph lists mp4 as a playable format for only the iphone even though all the other devices can play mp4 movies

what's interesting to note is that multitouch is actually a feature except it's disabled in the US because of possible patent issues with Apple

In Pirate Climber (iPhone game) we have two icons on the bottom of the screen which the player can press at the same time to make his character jump, while pressing only the one or the other would be a run action in that direction. That is just a simple example, but yeah.. multitouch is cool to have.
 
my two cents worth: get it from the US - don't wait for it or the Bravo to come here.

We get left out of so much: no Voice Search, no Google navigate. In the Market that we have access to there are hardly any of the Google apps like Gmail, Maps, etc so we're stuck with the ones that come with our ROM.

The US version will have no restrictions!

Edit: and for just over R4000? You won't pay that little here!

Reminds me of watching the guitar hero champion on youtube. it's gonna take a long time to learn to do it that fast. But very cool none the less

damn, no support for hero due to resolution ( this buyers remorse thing is getting to me:mad:)
 
im not phased really :) it's not like im gonna have the google phone for the rest of my life. year or two and it'll be time for a new one.

Well, Nokia and Sony have taken the trouble of listing mp3 or whatever music functionality in their phones.
 
Just a FYI

So we rooted the Nexus One. Before it was out. Without a device. Neat, but many knowledgeable commentators in the Android community noted that the root was only possible due to the engineering bootloader shipped on the devices distributed by Google, and that retail devices would likely have locked bootloaders. We told them not to worry... and here's why.

Retail devices DO have locked bootloaders.

But you can unlock them.

You see, in the bootloader of the Nexus One there is a secret command. A command that, when issued via fastboot, gives you the warning you see here, after which you can merrily unlock your bootloader and flash anything you want onto your device (including our superboot rooting image).

Nice eh?

It's easy too! Google WANTS you to be able to do whatever you please on your Nexus One, but they also want you to be aware of the consequences.

To unlock your Nexus One's bootloader simply...

- Download and extract fastboot from here (Windows, Linux and Mac included)
- Run a command prompt / terminal at the directory you just extracted
- Type 'fastboot-windows oem unlock' or './fastboot-mac oem unlock' or './fastboot-linux oem unlock' (as appropriate)
- Proceed on your merry bootloader unlocked way

Well, I just order mine. Step by step guide to doing it as follows

Create a Myus.com account.
Create a google checkout account and use the myus address as your shipping address in the appropriate fields.

Change proxy settings to a us proxy that support SSL. I used (66.90.234.124:8080).

Go to the google nexus page. (http://www.google.com/phone/?locale=en_US&s7e=
)
Select a stand alone phone.
Proceed through all the steps. When it asks for your google account, use the account with Google checkout details that use Myus.

Complete order
and wait.

Here's hoping it works :)
