Excuse my ignorance but does android have a decent app store?

This is like asking whether your jail has a nice cafeteria... Why do you want to live in a jail? (Why do you want to be bounded to a app store, if you have the internet and can download and install any app from the net?) Perhaps I might be the ignorant one here...

So... no one spotted that the Nexus does not feature multi-touch?

Basically that means back to the old days of the stylus (except now you can use a finger), only one point of contact at a time.

The iPhone took months of flak for not having a hokey feature like MMS but the masses are collectively jizzing their pants for a one finger touch screen device?

Really?

Idiots.

Excuse my ignorance, but is myus.com legit?

There used to be a couple of these sites around a while back and I always heard bad things. Has anybody used myus.com and if so, what were your experiences? Not that I want to hijack this discussion of course - just a few quicky "Yes, its great" or "no, its crap" would do :) Thanks a million!

haha..true however im sure there will be a software update for it...

lol.. 40 votes for nexus one so far, do all you voters own the phone? Guess a better question would be what the next phone would be that everyone gets.
Will be getting the Nexus One myself (if it comes to SA) and can then compare it with my iPhone 3GS

Apparently that is the case for all Android devices but where is the righteous indignation people?!?!

Where are the fanboi jabs and 'more money than sense' insults??

I really don't have a problem with that kind of thing until it becomes a selective affectation.... consistency is what I am talking about here damn you!

Question
If this phone is just a rebadged HTC Hero (although I'd heard that the processor is faster?), and Android's Open Source, then,
could one just buy a Hero and update to the same version of the OS the Nexus uses?

Re multitouch, who cares? I know everything has it nowadays, but really, it's just a gimmick IMHO, besides, I'm sure they can enable it with a software update.

once again i say this is a rebranded Bravo which DOES have multi touch.

bravo and nexus both have snapdragon processor, this is not a rebranded hero.

ok, seriously, what do u use it for?
Pinch to zoom is horrible. vertical scrolling is so so. screen rotate could be done more easily with a push of a button or 2.
horizontal scrolling sucks

Try typing on a single touch vs multi touch keyboard and then tell me there's no difference.

the downside to the technology behind multi touch for me is that i know cant use a pen or pointy thingy to touch the screen or navigate...think its call capcitative touch screen

ok, fair enough - never tried that. I'm not a big fan of on-screen keyboards though, but they are the way of the future, so what can one do?

Edit: Hang on, are you sure you're not confusing multi-touch with capacitance vs pressure sensitive? Cos surely when typing you only need multi-touch for your caps ("shift+letter)? Or does that make enough of a difference?

True and that is very nifty, but the difference (for now) comes in the way we type. When typing quickly you often put your finger on a letter before letting go of the previous one. This is fine with multi touch, but is a big problem for single touch. You first have to lift one finger before putting down the next.

On the Nexus One and all subsequent 2.1 devices your swipe the keyboard and this activates the voice input.
Here you go

Ya, but if you've ever used speech to text software, you'll know that typing's much faster. And with this new Swype system being only slightly slower than normal typing - I think voice will be of limited use.
