I should be getting a quote from the delivery place that handles all the import duties etc. for me some time this morning. will let you all know.

FYI - If you deliver via UK the UK VAT is 150 GBP

Turns out my phone is actually in JHB so I will only get it tomorrow morning. It's cleared from customs and the charges were as follows (United Express handled it for me):

Clearance Fee - R 250.00
Handling Fee - R 180.00
Customs VAT - R 308.00
SCH 1 PART 2B - R 150.08

Total - R 888.08

The last item is "the charge from customs for importing a luxury item" - as I was told its basically the tax for buying it outside SA instead of inside SA

[Edit]

So it's R4202 + R888.08 so far = R5090.08

Am I right in saying that the +R888.08 is the average we would all pay bringing in a Nexus?

So if we bought and shipped via myus, we'd pay for the phone + myus ($61) + R888.08 when it gets here?

Just been told by United Express that I dont need to pay the UK VAT they handled that - just the R888.08.

:D:D:D:D

Enjoy it Blunt- seriously impressed with how fast it got to our shores (ordered mine last Wednesday and picked it up on Monday)

Things I picked up on - no paid apps available on the market yet and might be a while before they get here. Although some of the free apps are pretty sweet.

Also if you havent already, I would recommend creating a bogus Access Point, otherwise you could incur some serious data fees. I went into mobile network settings > Access Point Names >, then created a new APN called "Off" and APN i just put in there "blank".

So if you are away from a wi-fi network and you want to access the web, you can just turn it on and off.

Also some apps I would recommend :

TasKiller (must have)

2010 World Cup

Dolphin Browser (has multitouch)

Google Goggles (very awesome)

Google Sky Map

Google Translate

Google Listen

Metal Detector (actually works)

Twidroid (if you tweet)

Where's my droid (cool little app that helps you find your phone if its on silent - if you're like me i lose my phone all the time but no more :) you just SMS "wheres my droid" from another phone and the nexus one will ring for 30 seconds)

Enjoy it

@RogerWilcoZA
I assumed the Nexus wouldn't have multitouch if you ordered it from America (with regards to the Dolphin Browser)?

@blunt
Expecting a review :)

Any of you lucky ones done a speed test yet and checked that you get stable 3G? Are the 3G problems that some of the US customers are experiencing an issue here as well?
