Google RCS?

@Jan how you actually do a article about this and see what is going on instead of all the DSTV crap please?
Hang on... so after the 20 Sept tweet to you there's been bupkis?

Unfortunately, there are precious few people in SA who care about RCS, but let me see what I can do.

Thank you @Jan . No, it is still not working. I understand few people care about RCS, but it will be replacing SMS. Some companies have started using it. Courier Guy have sent me a delivery notification and it was done via RCS. I would rather read a article about this than antother DSTV one. Sorry to be that guy, but eish, really. Lets get something else on the agenda please which actually concerns communications.

Just because all you see is DStv doesn't mean that's all we write ;-) (Clarification: you can look at the 12-16 articles we publish per day and count for yourself. There's lots of other stuff.)

RCS is a small issue and I have limited bandwidth. Can we leave it at that? (Perhaps we will have to agree to disagree about it replacing SMS. Clearly not even the MNOs care about it. If it was making them money they would have fixed it long ago.)

OK, I have asked Vodacom for comment and reached out to a contact at Google.

Let's see what happens...

Mildly impressed with the persistence.

Hopefully there is a "resolution" of some sorts.
I feel bad for being a bit of a bitch with Jan. But had a bad day and this issue has been going on for a while and no one is doing anything about it. And saying it does not make anyone money...well...the messages are not sent via osmosis. It uses the data network. Who pays for data? Us!

Your effort in trying to bring this Vodacom - RCS issue to the attention of Vodacom is appreciated @Ockie ✅

These Telcos in SA are no longer interested in the user experience it’s all about profit maximisation for Shareholders.

I have inserted the vodacom SIM card in Samsung S22 ultra and it immediately picked RCS. Software might not be a factor. The factor I can think of now is the age of the vodacom SIM card. Mine is less than 2 months old. And just an addition, not sure it's relevant to the thread, RCS only works on SIM 1 in dual SIM phone.

Can you take a screen shot of your IMS status on your settings IMG_4291.jpg
Does it show SMS, Voice and RCS

Go under network provider and tap were it says carrier tap it twice not sure on the Samsung, but it’s should display IMS status.

Samsung seems to have disabled IMS status in settings. The phone is on android 14.
