Google RCS?

This is like iMessage failing to activate for weeks on end due to Vodacom backend issues. At one stage I had to resync my sim card just to get it to activate.

That said, Vodacom need to get with the times. iOS 18 was in beta for a long time and they're yet to update their iPhone carrier bundle with RCS support.

Let's just level the playing field here. Vodacom have supported RCS for a very long time. Apple's response to RCS was "buy your mother a iPhone". So who is late to the party here? Definately not Vodacom.

That is such a cop out Ockie. If they’ve been supporting it for so long then implementing it on another device shouldn’t be rocket science.

@Jan Any feedback from Vodacom? I just tweeted Vodacom about this situation. Whatsapp goes down and we have a article about it in a hour. This happens and it has been more than a week and nothing.

Vodacom doesn't care about RCS. The only large network in South Africa that hasn't even begun implementing RCS on iPhone.

My contract is up in December. I will be shopping around elsewhere.

How does RCS compare to whatsapp?
Do you still pay per SMS?

Well based on this article it looks like Telkom is leading the pack with implementation of RCS so far so good I got my eSIM with them.

It is important to note that Vodacom utilises the team system of resolving issues which often results in slower resolution times.
