Guilty! (Power cut headline)

If im not mistaken, didnt the media anounce a while back that the "majority" of parlement were Family Related in some way?

Alec Erwin continues to lie with statements like "the country is a victim of it's own

This statement really puzzles me.

Wasn't the ANC's basic tenet to provide basic services, viz electricity, water, property, education, health, telecommunications, etc to the previously disadvantaged?

Was not the fundamental problem of the Nationalist Party that of providing these basic services to only 8 million South Africans, while leaving 40 million South Africans out in the cold?

Now, if the ANC were only to succeed at a level of 20%, it would DOUBLE the requirement for these basic services.

Therefore one can only ask,
1. for each of the basic services, what has been the expansion level in the last 14 years?
2. what has been the planned expansion level in the last 14 years?

I agree with the paper,

All involved should be held on trial for 'Dereliction of Duty' and fired. -NOT- resign... but fired! :(

There has been no expansion. In fact there was shrinkage to the potential future supply with power station plans that were scheduled to come online being mothballed.

The old NP were not bothered with providing these resources to the masses. The ANC obviously made this a priority and quite rightly so!

The trouble is at the very same time that the country was becoming the world's favorite little pet project and investment, the majority were being incorporated into the economy, thus fueling it, the ANC decided in all their wisdom that no further expansion was needed by Eskom to cater for the increase in demand. They have said as much.

The mind boggles at the fact that this was a decade ago.
What has been happening since?
What communication has there been between Eskom and government regarding the electricity supply too the nation?
Dare I ask if there has been any communication between them at all?
Or have they just been lining their pockets while lying to Thabo Mbeki's government about the seriousness of the supply problem cause believe me shutting down the mines is about as serious as it gets in this country. This giving Thabo the benefit of the doubt as he seemed oblivious to the power supply issues when one looks at the statements he has made of late.

Surely, if there has ever been a time in this country where heads must roll in the name of accountability it is now.

the ad with "Ladies and Gents, fasten your seatbelts" points to a rough ride ahead of us  :D

irony of it all

and yes, they should be fired outright without any golden handshakes.

Hey fellas...Something just struck me...Mbheki wasnt in charge of govt when Escom told them about the power that has to be looked at in th 90's, it was MANDELLA!!!

And Alec *spit* Erwin is now quoted in the Sunday Independent (print edition) as not being aware that the mines had closed on Friday - as did the Eskom CEO.

It simply boggles the mind.

Simple really - they should all resign.

I was hoping for a gradual easing into the Zuma presidency but Mbeki needs to show there is honour amongst [-]thieves[/-] politicians and fall on his sword now.

Agreed.

question is....who's going to fire these non performers? and secondly...why oh why would they quit/resign...clearly in their minds this is all a suprise and not their doing...it's our economic growth which has suddenly jumped up and bit them on the backside!!..it must be our fault for making the economy work......please...what an incompetent bunch.
is mass class action a possibility?

lol - made me think of this.
Had they not been so incompetent, growth would have been higher, and we would have hit this problem earlier.
Actually, had they not been incompetent, we would never have been in this position.

/me goes to lie down :D

Ag - Mandela was always a figurehead. Put in place to re-assure the world.

The puppet strings are being pulled now by the same puppet masters as pulled them in 1994.
Bottom line - the ANC is responsible.

Hickery Dickery Doc,
Die land is opgef@k.
The clock strikes one,
The country's down,
Hickery Dickery Doc......AMEN!
