This is to inform everyone that GWISA is now called SCREAMER.

After losing connection for a while on Thursday evening, I wanted to do a speed test on GWI's site when suddenly, I was reffered to SCREAMER's site.

Thanks for informing us about this GWI. or SCREAMER or whoever....

I used to be a "SCREAMER" when I was still with GWISA :) - I am gload I am no longer with them.

Is SCREAMER also giving you the same package\service as GWISA?

I'm with you on that one. Been very happy with WebAfrica since I switched.
I'm even willing to say I don't miss the uncapped account I used to have with them :p, although I do have the office to make up for that :D.

They're obviously trying to get away from all the bad publicity by changing their name. Their packages are different, but I'm sure their service is still crap :(

That makes sense.

Same circus, different name.:D

they are moving in at malapo technoloies in midrand.some poor sucker is investing with them.they are the big talk no action types and go thru staff like crazy.
working for them i think is like working for sars ,nobody likes you.they wont last long unless they carry on getting investors.

Ok, so I had my maths wrong.

GWI or SCREAMER or whoever, you still have 21 Mondays left till year-end to inform you clients of all the changes.

It's now the second Monday and still nothing from you huys.:D

Actually, from what I can see, Molapo and Screamer/GWI are closely related. The sole director of Screamer Telecommunications (registered October 2007) and Screamer Telecommunication Services is one Gavin Hart who is also director (I expect chairman) of Molapo. Never heard of him. I can also give you his home address and ID number, but I won't. It's public information BTW at Cipro - the Companies registration office.

You got to love the Screamer website. No information on pricing in what is a highly price sensitive business (just like GWI), a contract that mentions absolutely nothing about any QoS or performance guarantees, and a contract for a prepaid service that wants three months of bank statements. These guys are marketing palookas and you're going to wait a looong time for any letter. I'd love to see it if it arrives.

Oh yes, the website say they're more than 60% black owned. I find this difficult since there's only one director, but perhaps they haven't updated their company information.

shame poor mr.gavin hart does he know what he is doing with his money?mr solomon and kie ex owners dont have clue but are still running the show.rolling out wi-max with no license and just hopping nobody gives them grief.i think they pay sentech a royalty for usage of frequency.beware they are not qaulified and are always looking for staff, the people go thru like a production line nobody lasts.

You do know that you are not making any sense right? Try responding in English next time, maybe that will work?

sorry abit early for me.bottom line stay away from screamer, unless you want to scream!

I suppose that it is time for a Screamer to respond.... I work there and have some of the inside track...

It is true that GWI has been renamed Screamer wef 1 August. A group of investors have recapitalised Screamer and have spent the last 5 months upgrading the Screamer network. The reason that they invested in the old GWISA is because GWI had somehow managed to put together a number of agreements with some licenced entities which allow it to provide point to point links and deploy a WiMAX access network all in licenced spectrum.

The problem in the past was that GWI did not have the funds to use these agreements but with the re-capitalisation have upgraded their backbone and are continuing to do so and have already deployed a number of Wimax base stations and have voice running over some of them.

The problem that Screamer has recently is that they have spent more time upgrading the network than they have communicating with their clients or marketing the upgraded services. I know that the comms to their clients is going out this coming Monday and I suspect that once their interconnects are finalised they are going to start stepping up their marketing which I estimate will be around the middle of Aug. Nearly all of Screamers clients that I have spoken to have already experienced a performance improvement, although some have complained that the upgrading has resulted in some down time.

As far as staff unhappiness is concerned I think the message posted was by the one guy that the new management fired because he was incompetent. There has only been one resignation in the past 5 months and I think they have employed about 14 new staff.

I will be watching our in-box from the web site and if there is any client who is still unhappy I will personally check it out and welcome anyone to also send a request if you want to speed test our new backbone.

Could be a temporary thing or maybe you fixed it. It seems ok now.
Arrived home around 5:30 and found my speed was around 8Kilobyte/s instead of my usual 20-30 Kilobyte/s.

The difficult thing about telling everyone about what you have is that one glitch and it sounds like the same old bul?@@?#t. Rather do the upgrade, get it settled, and then talk about it....
Hopefully this time ...time will tell.

And everytime theres a problem, support bull...s everyone that calls.

Is that not worse?

None the less, it's good to see someone from the "other side" on the forum again.

So what's in the pipeline?

Apart from the backhaul deal. What's the situation regarding the new packages? How will it affect your existing customers?

A lot of us signed on with you guys because of the "uncapped" packages on offer, just to find out we were indeed being capped. After some time we learned to live with this but were still unable to monitor our usage, is this going to change?

Also, how do you intend upping the level of support, as it has been lacking in the past to say the least.

I think the clients that have stuck it out with GWI all should get some recommendation or something.:D:D:D
