I'm curious to know what WiMax gear you guys are deploying, as are alot of the people here.
There's no mention of it on your website. Does this mean that all existing customers will have to get new hardware?

The biggest growth of staff over the past 5 months has been on the call desks with the 2nd biggest growth in the technical dept so management are concentrating on the areas that will hopefully have the greatest impact on our clients.

As far as I know, and please remember all my resonses on this site are my unofficial opinion, there will be no increase in the packages cost for all clients who are registered with Screamer as at the 31st August. The new packages will also be announced then as far as I know although I do know that mamagement has done an extensive market analysis and are determined to still keep the package costs below the other major players in this space. I also know that they will be reintroducing uncapped packages at various speeds.

We are busy testing our new management software and servers and hope to start deploying some of the new client features, one of which I know is personal usage monitoring, in about a month and a half's time.

We are dual sourcing our WiMax equip from Cisco(Navini) and Alvarion depending on the application and densities. If there are exisiting clients who want the features that the WiMax connection offers (once we have WiMax coverage in their areas), such as carrier grade voice, then they will obviously need to get new CPE although I believe that there will be a trade in value on their WiFi CPE if they bought it and are not renting. The rental price of the WiMax CPE will be higher because it is currently close to double the price of WiFi CPE.

An ISP that's EVEN WORSE THAN IBURPS... hahaha

Ja and I bet they're paid a pittance too and lemme guess, they're either poached from iBurst or are people who left iBurst

As far as staff unhappiness is concerned I think the message posted was by the one guy that the new management fired because he was incompetent.

Staff morale is usually a reflection of the health of a company. Better hope he doesn't haul your asses to the CCMA, it is not so easy to sack someone if you think they're incompetent.

Well I'll be watching out for that!

As long as nothing changes regarding the packages we originally signed up for.:D

I received this email on the 16th which is rich because I'm no longer a client. Did no one else here get it?

Dear GWI Client

We have not taken the opportunity to communicate with you recently but with the very exciting developments at GWI we now hope to be communicating more regularly.

As you all know GWI is the parent company who own the network and licences that supply you with the internet and e-mail connection you are using through our branch partner network.

Recently GWI was acquired by a larger telecoms company and has been renamed Screamer Telecoms. Apart from changing the name we have also upgraded our network and services and almost every single one of you will have experienced a more stable network with faster throughput. We are continuing to upgrade our network and we will have a very exciting announcement regarding voice services in 3 weeks time. We thank you for bearing with us during the core network upgrade and promise you that the network and services will get better and better from here on.

For your loyalty we are offering you an opportunity of reaping rewards for referring our services to your friends and with immediate effect will reduce your monthly charge by R20.00 EVERY MONTH for every person who you recommend to our service for every month that they remain a client of ours. This means that if 20 of your friends become clients of Screamer you could be getting your connection for FREE!!!

To recommend a friend please reply to this e-mail with his or hers

Name:

Address:

Contact Number:

We also need your

Name:

Contact Number:

GWI/Screamer account Code:

And we will arrange to meet with them and register them against your account. This is only open to Screamer clients.

Kind Regards

Screamer Management Team

I don't quite know what to say about the R20 offer, other than it would not motivate me to do anything about it. I also want to scream when I see lots of exclamation marks.

I think they sent it to their whole mailing list.

It's the first clever thing I've seen these guys do.-Marketing wise.

But.... firstly, they pitched in an e-mail that was sent out LATE. How can you expect a client to recruit another client when even the letter stating such an important event (Name change, takeover call it what you want.)is sent out....LATE?

Secondly, most or at least a lot of their clients were/are dissatisfied with the service they are receiving? Who would reccommend a crappy service to their buddy/aunt,brother etc??

Guys, if you have management or marketing strategy problems, get in some help. You are obviously battling.:D
