So I've wasted about 2 hours now looking for a decent way to hard code .srt subtitles to a .mp4 video, the problem is I want to do it without getting a file that is 4 times bigger than the original, so is there a program out there that pretty much keeps the same quality and size (more or less) but just hard codes the subtitles in?

Otherwise I'll take suggestions for program that can hard code .srt subtitles on a .mp4 video and just go through them.

Help? :(

WHy do you want to hardcode subtitles? Why not jut use a .srt file?

Handbrake, but then you'll need to convert the .srt to .ssa. Otherwise try Xvid4PSP.

SRT file comes in at about 100-200kb , then you just select the file using VLC.No video editing at all, just notepad editing.

Because Xbox 360/blu-ray player doesn't read .srt files.

I've tried both, both produce files much greater in size than the original. :(

I've just tried Handbrake again and it comes to about half the size of the original video, so going to look more into the settings.
