And then I took it. It just arrived. Box a bit battered though. It seems to be the UK version, with no SA adapter in sight.

The minis I bought locally were also UK versions and came with no adaptor.

Just buy a bunch of them off eBay/banggood.

Spotlights though, not bulbs. You could look at ACDC Express they've got 50ws going for R145 each.

How do you not have 20 USB chargers lying around?

Problem is you need a 2A adapter. Some phones only use 1A, especially the older non-fast charging ones. Also where it plugs into the mini it is quite narrow which means some mini usb plugs does not fit snugly.

I also use my romoss 30000mah powerbank fast charge port (2A) to use my mini during loadshedding, works a treat.

Yes. You can also use a phone fast charge plug as long as it is 2A or higher. It is powered by mini usb.

Indeed. 3 of ours are running like this, makes them super neat and tidy around the house specially since our wall plugs have USB points in them too.

The Google Home however requires a full blown power supply but that things audio is just epic so it's justified. Worth the upgrade next up is a Hub for the kitchen area.
