Wow, I remember when you could pick up the old N36 Microservers for something like R2000 back when they launched.
Also, I cannot believe the original N36L was launched way back in 2011. It feels just like the other day that they were still in daily use (and very popular with the Home Theatre guys on MyBB)
 
Bought 2 N36Ls for R1250 each. One is still going strong!

My N40L is still working perfectly fine! Stopped using it for home theatre directly to the TV, but it runs my NVR, acts as a NAS, etc.

The gen8 onward started becoming too "corporate server".
 
The monitor and jbl looks Decent, from the Istore.

- I sideloaded a netflix apk that gives me 1080p playback (The box has Widevine L1)
- You can sideload ANY apk by first installing a web browser like puffin browser etc - who needs the play store?
- If you dont like dstv dont use it
 
Has anyone been able to obtain Mate 10 Pro from Telkom in Cape Town? Which stores? Or is everyone out? I tried canal walk and they are out of stock.

Bought 2 n54l for R1300 each. Both going still and they run 24/7

Stellenbosch Eikestad Mall Telkom - had 3 units, when i was there last week they had 2 mocha colour units left

I couldn't rest and ordered Sennheiser HD 4.50 unboxed deal R1890.

If you pair the skyworth (or any other tv box for that matter) with this remote its all you need.

I think it compares very well - both boxes run the amlogic S905X with 2/8 GB storage. If you are a technically minded person you can configure the skyworth manually by sideloading stuff like netflix and other stuff as I mentioned in my post above. This will make it functionally the same as the xiaomi mi box. Currently the mi box is also on sale on takealot for R1299 but for me personally I would see it as a 'saving' of R500 buying the skyworth box instead.
