any good deals on an ADSL modem?

I came home last night, and my modem/router/powerline adaptor, all stopped working....(probably lighting?).

must be a cheap adsl modem ,with basic wifi (i will order this one: http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Orig...s-Support-iOS-Android-APP---White-364700.html , but will take the usual +- 5 weeks to arrive).
Aye looks like the router I need. And cheap.

Waiting for my asus dsl-n14u from takealot as also pressed for time.

Hows the service from geekbuying? Never used them before.

Do you have past experience with the brand?

I order from them all the time, had 1 issue that i was told that a product was shipped to me and it was only shipped 3 weeks later, since then i would rather order from other places (http://www.banggood.com/ or http://www.gearbest.com/).

my router that got hit by a lighting was the previous version and i was very happy with it,
note: i had the Chinese version, but not a big issue as chrome can translate the interface ,plus i think there is an english android app.
however i will order the English version now.

as i said delivery is about 5 weeks.

The latest version has full AC wifi radios? Wonder if it supports openWRT or similar custom firmware?

Sorry for the thread derail, If i buy something from say "Gearbest", obviously there are customs fees that needs to be paid, does this mean I will have to drive to the post office to pay this, or do I pay the courier when they deliver it?

There is a postal thread somewhere. But customs is hit or miss. They don't always charge.

Any chance of this thread being archived and a new one being started or aren't there enough specials to warrant that?

you pay customs at the post office.

I remember this being the case in the past. But its been a few years since I have bought anything oversees, and back then Couriers was not really that popular. I don't have time driving to the post office to pay customs. So ja, kinda sucks, don't want to take the risk now.

Post office you may pay duties, courier you are guaranteed to pay duties.

i think i'll order this one....https://scoop.co.za/tenda-300mbps-wifi-adsl2-modem-router.html
use to be able to get the dealer price....not sure if i still can though.

I have been very impressed with my Tenda router. The wireless range is much better than any of my other routers (>30m). You can also get the D301 from Russ-Al PCs or Geewiz which will probably work out cheaper if you require delivery.
