So I have always know the ball-park figure of money I spent on commuting to work and back home, but never really worked out the daily rate until today. This includes petrol, E-toll, Gautrain ticket and Gautrain parking, have not put a figure to "wear and tear" on the vehicle though... and it works out to just over R130 per day. Quite a scary figure, considering I hardly ever get the opportunity to work from home, even though my job profile would allow it. But I am sure there are some who spend more than that.
 
:wtf: ouch - mine comes to around R60 a day, sitting in traffic and with weekend use of my car...
 
No idea.

My petrol varies between R400 to R800 pm.
Wear and tear I would estimate at another R150pm so worst case scenario is around R1K pm so around R30 per day?
 
Petrol costs me R20 per day.

Edit if I take the SOs Brio instead of my Accord it would be R14. :whistle:

Mine would be R200 pd for my i10 if I drove in (parking, petrol and tyres). Reason why it sits parked my garage Mon-Fri as I use public transport to get to work.

I walk to work, I live a block away.

Only time I use my car is when going shopping, visiting friends, etc. I can't imagine having to sit in traffic anymore, used to sit in traffic for 45mins to an hour each direction when I lived in PTA.

"/30" ? Its actually 21 days, the average number of working days in a month (4.2 * 5).

My bus is R550 per month or R26 per day.

I spend now R300 per month on petrol for my i10, going to bring it down to R200 as I should rather walk to Pick N Pay than drive.

I use cycle to work with my previous job and miss that a lot. Had to take a job in Cape Town CBD as Somerset West did not pay back then (in less than 2 years I tripled my salary).
 
I would guess around R20 a day. Most likely less, as its only 5 min drive each way.
 
My average cost is R17,88 per day. That is working on a 5 day week, and includes petrol and my licence disc. It excludes insurance and maintenance.

In this costing you forgot your time.

If you value your time at R200 an hour and spend 90 minutes in traffic that is effectively R300 down the drain.
 
I spend 20min in traffic a day on a round trip of 12km.
Fuel costs me like R300 a month :D
ie R15/day :p
