HD PVR replaces SD PVR

It deeply concerns me that MyBroadband continues to give Multichoice favourable press on the HD-PVR.

There are not just "a few known issues". The device is all but unusable.

There are just a few of the problems listed at http://hd-pvr.pbwiki.com/.

I wish they would just stop showing the 'this month on Mnet HD' adverts. The movies simply never show or were shown 2 to 3 months ago and won't be showing again.

Come on Multichoice update your adverts;

I was quite an early adopter of the HD-PVR ... and Multichoice's comment
In order to meet this very short deadline, the HD PVR at launch had a few known issues.
has got to be the understatement of the year!

User are reporting new issues on the DSTV forum all the time, most of which Multichoice tries to ignore.

Any here looking to invest (waste??) their $$$ on the HD-PVR should first read the links already mentioned above.

well, ppl like the pvr concept, so discontinue the stable n cheper option so that everyone is forced to buy the HD version, thereby paying u more...

This ia no good!!! I have both HD & SD I now if I get another HD how is that going to work with my extra view?? Are they going to pay for my new splitter!!

This just irritates me no end!! I need 3 channels they best get a dual view HD PVR soon then!!

no dual view i am not interested. it cost to much

In all fairness, that post on the forum was made a few months ago. Has some of those issues been sorted since?

+1 on not having a "dual view" HD PVR

The wiki has the most current status of all the bugs tracked. If you look at the (very) short list, "fixed issues" in the sidebar, you'll see the issues which have been resolved.

I'm not bothered by the HDPVR not being dual view. In the end dual view just encouraged laziness: The signal being sent to your 2nd TV by RF, or if you're feeling energetic, composite. Watching HD through a RF link is like "watching" a colour broadcast on a radio. The best solution (not the easiest) is to give each TV its own HDPVR attached by a HDMI cable (or component via an HD Fury).

STOP giving multichoice such positively bias coverage MyBroadband!!! This is such hogwash!

MultiChoice has confirmed that it has ceased the manufacturing of the SD PVR. "Many of the components used to manufacture the SD PVR have been discontinued; many have reached the end of their life cycle and can no longer be sourced for manufacturing purposes," the DSTV provider said.

Ahahaha... how stupid do you think we are? This is blatant and utter BS. There are plenty countries in the world that are still on standard satellite. What are they going to use? This is just a crap confusing statement to force this change on people, not because MC were forced to, but because they want to force the consumers to change. Please, don't insult our intelligence.

Getting rid of the cheaper option and forcing us to fork out over R2000 for something that doesn't even work 100%. **** them I say.
I download all my shows anyway...so the HD channel will be a waste of money for me. If they should broadcast, Style and all the BBC channels in HD...then we might have a deal. But for one silly MNET channel...showing movies that I already own on Blu-ray....I'll pass thanks.

Geez relax people, its not even a MyBB article. You know what is a MyBB article? This one:

http://mybroadband.co.za/news/Telecoms/5339.html

Agreed. Some people need to take a chill pill. Deal with the contents of the article itself rather than the fact that MyBB (re)published it. They publish all kinds of articles here that we don't like... just look at all the "change is coming" articles! :p

Just when I was about to buy a standard PVR. :(

Anyway, it there a feature comparison somewhere detailing the differences between the two?
