Why is Internet Solutions so utterly disgusting lately?

Do you think you could email your customers and apologize and/or inform us of possible downtime / do something for your customers, please?

Local is fine, I spent about 5gbs leeching Linux related things from IS, but international is appalling. I don't expect perfection, but I do not however, expect to have constant timeouts when surfing sites that my friends on SAIX based accounts (and iBurst) have absolutely no problems with.

I pay a lot of money for this service and I feel that this is unacceptable.

Moderators: I know this is probably regarded as a rant (it is) but it is also an open letter to Openweb which I feel others should have the benefit or reading, and also (hoefully) benefit from a reply from them. If this post doesn't stand up against the forum's policy, please remove it.

Its not only openweb, Its all the other isp's that use IS. Im sure however openweb are just as frustrated with them as us.

Yep, I know, but I am paying Openweb, they must address the situation.

Dear OpenWeb - has IS gone shaped on us ?
Do we treat the ISPs too softly?
Openweb 30GB local
What and when is IS shaping ?

...n1hilist is correct its him paying openweb and not IS - they must sort the **** out thats what they get paid for see Do we treat the ISPs too softly? - very nice to pass buck.

i would like to see your expression for example when you buy a toyota and the dealer tells you to go to japan to get it fixed. [*checked korny car comparison used]

If you guys really have a problem, why dont u call or msg them from the openweb lounge thing. I get my problems sorted out chop chop through that. I mean, its myADSL, not myOPENWEB. Contact them thru the proper channels and I am sure you will get a better response.

Don't waste your breath zolly, tried to tell them last time, just got everything thrown back in my face.

@Zolly: I've put this here so it's open for everyone to see, it's transparent and I think it's a global issue, hopefully the more people complain, someone will hear, probably not but I think it's worth the cause.

@Necuno: Well, I guess I'm just another bug on the sticky paper eh? :)

Well, we shall see how 'Open' Openweb is.

I believe all avenues should be explored when trying to resolve a problem.

Dear MyADSL users

Internet Solutions have indicated that they are indeed addressing the problems on their ADSL network. We at OpenWeb are in regular contact with the folks and they have indicated that the network will receive the well deserved upgrades shortly.

I suggest that if folks are not happy with Internet Solutions, to get one of our well priced SAIX accounts.

You have a choice between 5GB SAIX for only R239 and 10GB SAIX for only R459.

We have started selling SAIX accounts in order to offer choice to our clients whom no longer wish to be on the Internet Solutions network.

Thank you for your time, and have a wonderful OpenWeb day!

Kind regards

LOL

Don't know why everyone complains so much, if you don't like an ISP's service, just move to another ;)

And pay that much more? Does not work like that.
'Yesterday' IS was ok, 'today' they are totally unstable. Also does not work like that!

just quick question here what if saix gets over crowded and starts to suck too - should we move back again to IS ?

anyways good to here IS is trying to attempt something and you have contacted them :]

Necuno,

We are in constant communication with IS. It is our duty as an ISP to chat to our primary upstream provider on a regular basis, so that we can be aware of any problems on the network.

As a client, you have options. You choose which network you support. If one network does not suit your needs, it is advised that you try another.

One of the advantages of being an OpenWeb client is that we provide you with choice and flexibility. You may move up or down our packages, (even left and right if you'd like :) ) With our introduction of affordable SAIX accounts, we have opened up another avenue of choice for our most precious asset, our clients.

However, at the end of the day, Telkom is still the company that I will blame for the state of affairs within the ADSL realm.

It is because of this monopoly that it is unviable for us to create our own ADSL network, and sell affordable packages without shaping or caps. They have outpriced their IP CONNECT product, which allows us to connect to their ADSL ATM. They charge roughly R27 000 excl VAT per month for a mere 2MB pipe. This excludes any bandwidth whatsoever. Add about R40 000 per month for a 2MB international and local link, and you will clearly see why we are at the mercy of First Tier ISP's, especially Telkom.

P.S It is unlikely that SAIX will run out of bandwidth, or be over saturated, as they own the network.

Kind Regards

...sigh telkom/goverment

whats your opinion on neotel ?

Hey Mrbeep,
I wanted to know, whats the chance of saix local only being availible from you guys? Id love to use those, or even 3gb - 4gb saix accounts. I might replace my currant IS account with that.

Hey crysis

We are currently investigating this option.

It is however very difficult for us to sell something at R17 to R19 per GB, when its value is only R4 to R6 per GB.

However, Telkom rules the roost.

I will make an announcement as soon as we are ready.

Kind regards

Well, if other isps put that much profit into them, why not sell it for cheaper? I bet you would make a killing of those.
