Help! Audi S3 or VW Golf R?

I drove an m135i auto. I owned a 135i when it debuted in 2008. Nice car but felt like a fast 125i to me. If someone did a blind fold test at 120kph I wouldn't know the difference. An m car you'd know the difference

So, your whole "blindfold test" difference boils down to which car is less refined at 120Kph (i.e. makes more noise and has a harder suspension). You go boy.

True you didn't but somehow it felt implied. :)

Your car is awesome no doubt. More fun than the golf. And I've said this plenty times before on other forums. Thing is when I had a Bmw 1M at the time as my weekend toy and a polo gti as my everyday car. I replaced the polo gti with the golf r and ordered a Bmw m4 to replace the 1M (which I cancelled and bought another house instead... Also didn't think 1.2m was worth it for the m4 and I still don't think it's worth it)... If I had budget constraints I would have bought a m235i as a weekend car and a polo as an everyday car...

Perfect example right now is a cousin of mines bought a mac 650s spider and he also has a s65 merc amg. Guess what his everyday car is.... A golf 7R. Ok maybe because I also praised the car it might have had some impact of his decision. But it honestly is just such a good car.

The golf is that functional "checking all the tick boxes" type of car. It's not special but is functionally perfect. And for me a special car is that car that really plays on ones emotions and senses and they generally are far from perfect. A perfect example of this is a Porsche gt3 rs. Its too loud, you can't go over a ordinary speed hump. Its gear changes are like go though concrete. It smokes up on start up... Its not the fastest out there. But God is it the finest car I've experienced... Don't know if this makes much sense

How do I meet this rich cousin of yours?

Umm, no, I was asking the question seeing that what I had read in local mags was that the auto BM was quicker than the auto Golf R. How is that misinformation?

And yes, again, I was taking the piss with you, seeing as the whole frikkin discussion was about auto vs auto, and you came in with your logic that "I had a 1M, imo the 1M is superior to M235i, I chose the Golf R after the 1M therefore the R is better than the 235i"...

As for credibility, you can take your shock and jump-start your golf with it :D
Resorting to personal attacks are we :), Look you know nothing about cars. This is a fact. So showing me your ignorance that a 1M comes in auto (while you Googled to verify) is yanking my chain? ... Makes no sense. You just didn't know it lol :) .. You do realise people can see your stupidity on this matter... Stop while you ahead

And that's your problem right there. Car magazine... So you determine performance on a piece of paper. School yourself... Please. You insulting Bmw drivers and being the stereo type of what bmws drivers are

Each post of yours just gets worst...

Four doors, how exciting! Just what every driving enthusiast looks for in a car... :p

Fsck the friends man, we're at an age where you don't buy a car to cart people around. They must make a plan for transport or cram in the back if they're desperate...

im sad face...i have to have four doors, my wife seems to think we need them for our baby.

Honestly though, ive had a fair chunk of 2 door cars before the money eater, and I also got tired of the inconvenience.
2 door cars almost always look better, but in terms of performance, they are usually very similar to 4 door cars (at least the ones i can afford).

I must say, the m235 is a damn looker, as is the 4 series...pity about that gruesome 1980's orange dashboard :)

You would understand because you don't know anything about cars... Makes more noise and harder suspension... Here we go again. Please stop. You do realise an m4 has a smoother ride then your car?

Okay....(I actually googled before that post ;) ).

And by the way - when did I claim to know the history of BM? Are you saying that if you do not know the 1M's specs you know nothing about cars? Pretty strong.

PS - stop squirming, and answer the question - did you test drive the M235i?

Why you bringing in the M4? You were talking about 2 other cars. And then what did you mean about being able to tell the difference at 120kph? Come on big boy, tell us :)

Funnily enough, I never really thought the 235i was "a looker". The strange thing is, my previous car was the Astra OPC, which, when it came out, was a real head turner. But I've had more random compliments in shopping mall parking lots (including one dude taking a photo!) and people giving me thumbs up in traffic, in one year, than I ever did with the OPC in 7 years of ownership.

Big boy?

I think you can stop with that. Your emotions are coming out loud and clear. Which is a sign of you just not knowing what to say or how to respond

I'm comparing all m gmbh cars in general to the Bmw range. There is a different experience to them when compared to a Bmw range car. It's the chassis and suspension.

You have proven your ignorance on car stuff more than once in this thread. Just take it that you don't know much. Just like i dont know anything about paintings. You know very little about cars :)

It's absurd. A 1M doesn't come in automatic which any Bmw fanatic and informed car enthusiast would know. And which you Googled later to find out

Hahahahhahahaha. It is hilarious.

Can picture your comment Is your "1M like automatic bru? "... Lol

.

Because the OPC was just another Astra. Just like the R and S3 are just Golfs and A3s. Whereas the 235 is a meaner looking version of an already good looking car...

Well you a bloody pro on the golf yet you do not know your own brand... Says allot. Especially regarding one of the most special models Bmw have made

And for the last time I have drive an auto m135i... Great car. I would considr buying it. But the golf suited my needs better as an everyday cat. And I saw it as more functional. Id have a Weekend car for the "smile on my face" times. Dude I do my homework on cars so I know they exactly the same car (m135i and m235i)

You do know I don't have the golf anymore... Read please and stop assuming

Responses like these are always telling. Slightly hysterical, hugely hypocritical - but always entertaining :D

It's sadly hilarious that you try to come across as this pro... Yet statements like the 1m being auto is absurd when a car enthusiasts would look at you and laugh and say no they only came in manual.

Just admit you not a pro on cars... That's all

Just Google your m235i versus golf 7r. Or m135i. I'm not going to do it for you... School yourself. Like i said it just gets worse post after post...

This be true. I've got family who own some pretty nice cars for when I want to go for a spin, but for everyday practicality, the four doors is somewhat handy, best of both worlds, quick but practical, kind of like the Golf R.

BTW. I'm far from a driving enthusiast and wouldn't consider myself one.

Hence why I chose the golf as my everyday car. And its the car I'd recommend

And this from me being historically a Bmw whore :)... Having owned a good few M cars.

Ok, where did I miss you don't have the Golf anymore?

And you have gone from saying they "basically the same" to "exactly the same"?

By the way - your spelling is getting rather ragged. An indication of your emotional state, perhaps?

And by the way - I have googled that many times before. For some reason, I can find almost nothing about these 2 going head to head. If you have some links I would appreciate it.

Semantics (basically the same exactly the same) . They the same cars. Same mechanicals. That small kw difference doesn't make it different. One is a hatch other has a boot.

My spelling and grammar is always an issue with these touch screen phones. And the fact that you'd look at that shows you have run out of meaningful things to say or add. So trust me I'm just observing you digging yourself deeper into this hole of yours.

And you doing a great job of it :)
