Esquire have some awesome specials now. Looking to get a 6950 1gig for 2grand or 6970 2gig for 3grand.

I currently I have a 5770 and a 3.2Ghz Phenom II quad.
 
Id go 6950 don't think you'll be fully utilizing the 6970 under a phenom II.
 
Which game would see a benefit? I'd go for the 6950 if I had to choose.
 
Look at archers comparisons, that 570 is a damn steal!! Cheaper and faster than 6970

I dont think, I know that a Phenom will not hold back any single GPU config.

@OP, if its only between those two take the HD6950, especially if its a reference model. Very good chance you can unlock it to a 6970. And even if its not reference, R1k difference is hard to swallow for the increase in performance you'd get.

Whats the price on the GTX570? Might be the better option in this case.
 
The GTX570 is actually slightly cheaper. It's a POV though while the ATi cards are Sapphire.
 
Ok, I plugged the numbers in - value for money (best to worst) is:
6950 (27.75); 570 (34.06); 6970 (38.1)
Raw FPS
570 (73.4); 6970 (70.9); 6950(64.9)

Judging by the pic I cant tell if that 6950 is reference design, so cant comment on whether it can be unlocked. So its actually a toss up between the HD6950 and GTX570. So is 15% more performance worth 30% more moola. Answer that, and you'll know what to get.
