Help me setup my ADSL (first timer)

Theo,

As per Photonman
If 1G cap - old details should work
If 2G cap - get new log on details

USB use CD
Ethernet use IE

Now Im getting p1ssed. Ok lemme your questions first. Connected via ethernet. 1 gig account (im on do1) so Ill just use my dialup details. I did the verification twice today, the first time it was successful but it quoted a DIFFERENT order number than the one I input and I was actually syncing at 4Mb. Then I did it again a bit later and it gave the right order number when it said verification successful and now it shows 384 on the router page. But ive waited MORE than 30 mins and I still cant access any sites except telkom related sites. Help me pleeez

Well, I'm not sure if the details you've given show that verification has been passed or not ... but the fact that you can get online at all with your account suggests it has. Before verification you should only get in with the "guest@telkomadsl" account, password "guess". I think.

Have you entered your account name and password in the 'quickstart' connection on the Mega 100WR? I created an additional connection (under Advanced > WAN) and that caused problems.

Well I got it working finally, it seems the first verification failed but the 2nd one worked but then I had to re-enter the details at the router's page again so ya...it's finally working. Thanks for all the help guys. Appreciate it.

Nice one Feo, but i'm a little concerned about your 1gig cap.

Whats going to happen after 1 day when you have used it all up? lol

WebAfrica will happen ;)

(In my first few hours I think I've done about 40MB or so with youtube and gametrailers.com)

EDIT. Hopefully it'll still be softcapped at 1 GIG so I can get 2 gigs out of it but really it should be uncapped. Ah well, babysteps for babies I guess.

Dont forget to change your router password to something else other than admin :)

Hackers know these default passwords and can get into your router and pick up your account details easily once in ;)

At least with most routers I know of
