Good morning,

I have a problem with TELKOM static IP. I activated a PUBLIC STATIC IP address with TELKOM (41.149.191...) but I continue to have a different IP everyday.

I configured the router with PPPoE and the static IP with VPN/L2TP but it does not work! I tried with another router but I continue to have a different IP everyday! Someone knows how is it possible to use this IP with TELKOM?? I called 10217 everyday last month but they dont know how to configure it! I am lost and without the static IP my office will be disconnected in one week! please help!

Thanks

Assuming got openserve fibre? Afaik the l2tp bit is handled transparently. You should not needed to set up l2tp. Your pppoe IP just shouldn't change. Sounds like it isn't set up on their end correctly.

mikrotiksa - however, there are a few ISPs offering static IPs on openserve. To the best of my knowledge the Openserve L2tp model requires no l2tp setup by the customer - it's just encapsulated within the PPPoE

Yes, I’m with Telekom and sincerely I don’t underst their configuratiion. They activated the static ip, then they don’t provide you the assistance to configure it. Online there is pdf that explain how to configure the static ip,you have to configure the router with VPN L2TP and indeed on the router I can see the staticip, but there Is not traffic! I called Telekom everyday last month, no one knows how to configure it, their reply is : ask to your IT company! In Pretoria I paid 2 IT company and they reply : ask to Telekom!,,

Changing ISP not easier?

yes, I just changed with Afrihost, and they are really better, but I don’t know why, they gave me a public static ip and a private static IP. The good is that they really helpful

When Afrihost gives you a static IP address on the Openserve network you end up getting a private IP address on the wan interface of your router which is mapped to a static ip address on their side. It seems to be some sort of workaround.

Fixed public IPs are possible on Openserve with no additional config needed for the end customer, just PPPoE. Not many big isps doing it yet though, mostly the smaller ones

from experience if you using PPPOE it will be Dynamic IP.Also if you have a static IP then you have to manually configure the IP on your router's wan interface , as well as being supplied a ISP locked router which connects to the wan interface of your router.

Do you know which Internet provider offer a connection Point to Point, not pppoe?? I need one that offer the same PUBLIC STATIC IP and the STATIC WAN IP! with afrihost i have 1 wan and 1 public and for me it is a problem!

Public Static IP's are definitely possible on Openserve.
We provide public static IP's on all our FTTH accounts.

Hello everyone! Has anyone managed to use Telkom Static IP? I had a one-year Fiber Service with 5 Static IPs. They activated the line after 20 days of follow-up, but after a total of 38 days of follow-up, they still haven't provided a solution on how to set up a static IP from LT2P VPN and access my server from that IP. Does anyone have an idea of how Telkom Static IP actually works?

I managed to set up an L2TP VPN, but the static IP address it shows is completely different from what they gave me. Also, every time I restart my router, the static IP address changes on the Telkom customer portal. Has anyone managed to set up telkom five static IP addresses?

I was using Afrihost for the last two years without any problems. Now that I have changed my contract to Telkom, I am faced with numerous issues.

Hi, Why did you move over?

Sorry to hijack thread - how much does a static IP typically cost?
