Help Thor Decide.

I do not think think Adobe is considered general usage.

I was referring to your specific general usage scenario in this case. If you are not going to use the video editing portion of Adobe, the only thing that should usually be hit is your processer, ram and hard drive.

Concerning the 256 bit vs 384 bit, in simplistic terms it refers to the amount of data that can be sent through to the video ram at once.
A video card with 256 bits and fast video ram will be equal in that one aspect to a video card with 384 bits and slower video ram, although this will also depend on the exact speeds of the video ram.

That is why a 256 bit video card can be faster than a 348 bit video card.

Reading all these comments, it seems to me that 2gb on a 1050Ti is more marketing than usefulness. Now I wonder about those 8gb 1080s?

The 1050ti has similar performance to the 960, I had one with 2GB and it was not enough but I gamed with it.

A 1050ti will be fine for you, uses 75W and requires no external power, runs cool.

These days nvidia has fancy compression negating the need for a wide bus.

Ahh sweet I understand now.

So should I rather sell my current setup buy a cheap GT730 and splash out on a 6th gen i7 and ddr4?

Mine is 4008 MHz x 384-bit

Not a bad number

Sure.. But new cards have vast improvements in other areas, new features, better this, better that.. Its an apple to orange comparison which is not going to yield any positive results..

That makes me moist

Anyone in Bellville up for a day of fun who wants to check out my PC test parts and give some advice?

I do not know nearly enough.

I want to sell it all and then start from scratch rather so need someone to give me a worth, so I can know what to sell it for.

Just list it all here with full details.

It, together with the RAM speeds determines memory throughput.

If you don't care, and don't render 3D, why do you not just use onboard?

This seems reasonably cheap and small: 1.5 x 5.7 x 4.38 in

I'll leave it to you to find it locally.

or this is also pretty small:

Discrete Motherboard unfortunately

Encryption time per core using the AES cipher..

Lekker AMD, something it is good for.

Right lets talk Intel CPU's

I have less than zero knowledge of these bad boys my laptop has a i7 6th gen and that thing fck off at a pace unknown to the average citizen I like it.

Now I have been told that the 6th gen is a waste of money and a 4th gen like 4790 will still out perform most.

so now the question, is there and intel roadmap for me I do nto want to splash out 5k just to hear a new CPU is out a month later,

To simplify - what CPU's should I consider?
