rofl. Yeah they captured them in Israel or palestine, it was during their recent efforts to fight insurgents in palestine by using pretty much the same tactic. My point was not where they captured the army soldiers but that they'd rather go in start a war etc than trade for pow's from the 2000 farm wars with lebanon. :/ It was stupid of them to kidnap.

Btw it seems nkorea is determined to forge ahead. Nuke war anyone? Seems they getting ready for it.
 
Just wondering, as our law stands, can we volunteer to fight on Hezbollah’s side? I am sure there must be plenty of Palestine and Hezbollah sympathizers in South Africa:)

My sentiment about War is still the same as stated already in this thread.

But reading the article above I find the type of warfare quite disgusting.
On the one side you have Israel trying to root our Hezbollah in a conventional manner and on the other side you have Hezbollah shooting rockets indiscriminately into Israeli suburbs.

All be it strange that they know exactly how many rockets were fired? Like someone is sitting counting the rockets as they pass overhead?

The nine soldiers is unfortunate, but they were soldiers and war is war.
But shooting rockets (1436) into the distance with no apparent target in mind other than to simply to kill some unseen enemy in the distance makes no sense?
That is not the work of an army, but a bunch of madmen.
Madmen on both sides.
 
While Hezbollah may be "shooting rockets indiscriminately into Israeli suburbs" I think that the IDF's conventional warfare has been *much* more effective at killing civilians (and UN observers).

I'm not supporting one or other bunch of madmen: killing is killing, whether it is done with untargetted rockets or (supposedly) precision weapons.

A 'precision guided' weapon is only as accurate as the bloke guiding it.. Imagin he sneezes or something a the crutial moment.. whoops there goes MacDonalds! (actually thats not such a bad thing...Wendys FTW I say!)

Carpet Bombing is also pretty indiscrimnate I say...

From what I've seen on the news, it seems it was pretty deliberate.. But then again why trust the news?

Wouldn't surprise me if it were deliberate. Probably something going on near that post the Israeli's didn't want the UN to see.. After all 'friendly fire' happens all the time doesn't it, it was just a 'tragic misunderstading'

I would expect that the Israeli radar detects and logs the rocket fire.

this was apparently denied. I saw the footage, it looked pretty apparent to me though :mad:

Although I wonder if these are hand-held RPG's aimed at a 45 degree angle?
Doesn't say what sort of rockets?
Will radar detect low flying rockets?

I'm not sure what type of rockets they are but I would bet they are not RPGs or similar. The rockets get all they way to Haifa.
 
Give it to the Israelis tho, they don't back down. Two of their soldiers get taken and hidden in Lebanon. Israel tells the Lebanese government to give them back. Lebanese says no. Israel attacks.

Now who do you blame? Israel for attacking? The Lebanese for harbouring Hezbollah or not doing anything about Hezbollah and soldiers taken? The Lebanese could have stopped this dead in it's tracks by just giving the soldiers back. Not that Israel is innocent in any way, shape or form. They were just itching for a fight and were probably hoping that Lebanon would do nothing.
