Guys check your number and lets see which areas have been updated. Looks like they heard us about not updating the site hehe.

Thinking the poll should be:

∙ 10Mbps and ISP is Telkom
∙ 10Mbps and ISP is not Telkom
∙ 4Mbps or lower and ISP is Telkom
∙ 4Mbps or lower and ISP is not Telkom

Should be interesting...

Its informative one provides a lots of information on topic also provide more information on topic.

My 4mb line isnt stable at 4mb. I have to keep it at 1mb and I am quite close to the exchange...

THey did some upgrades here in Grahamstown yesterday - we are now running 6Mbps speed instead of 4, but had a whole 24 hours downtime for it...bleh

nyet, nada, zip.
Edenglen will be the last place in SA to get >4meg.
actually, Boksburg will be last.
:-)

Good news, small towns are starting to get this upgrade :)
Port Shepstone guys have started to report 8-9Mb Sync
Margate 6-8.
I am in Uvongo.. going to test the theory tonight.

Didnt Telkom supposedly upgrade the upstream to 600k on 4Mb lines? I have two offices which are linked together and i dont ever seem to get any where near 600k its more like 300k!! Which is weird because my downstream speeds are pretty bang on. Im not sure exactly where my exchange is but it must be near. I did think that perhaps it may be my office in Killarney Gardens which is the issue but and independent tests yields similar results.....as much as we need more download we neeeeed more upload!!! 4Mb both ways would be nice.

I was told today that by a telkom technitian that apparently they could upgrade my entire area to 10Mbs but due to lack of interest they not going to do it, my gripe with this is when they anounced it everyone was interested and they couldn't do it now that everyone waiting they refuse to do it cause not enough people calling in for it.

I upgraded to 1mb mweb after my line was upped. Trouble is it can be tough to get 1mb/s out of mweb especially this week.

My line was upped to 1mb and while I am still on a 512 Mweb uncapped package I have been noticing higher speeds (double in fact). Think it is possible that Mweb are also upgrading their 512 customers to 1mb free of charge?

TELKOM = W@NKERS. ADSL died. Got Telkom Techy to fix and ask him if 10Mbps was available. He said yes, ask him to switch line to 10Mbps. He said to phone Telkom ADSL they must enable it from their side he cannot do it. After numerous phone calls it comes down to Sorry you do not have 10Mbps. Got the bright idea to order ADSL on my fax line and then cancel the ADSL line. ADSL was switch on and got a clear 10015 kbps connection. WHOOP WHOOP. Telkom bastards.

What number should I phone, my exchange supports 10mb and I would like an upgrade. I phoned 10215 and they told me to phone 10219 but I'm really getting tired of having to keep phoning different numbers. Has anyone had success with a specific number. Any help would be much appreciated.

My exchange supports 10mb but when I phone 0800 375 375, the guy just says that the exchange is still in trial and they only select a few people to bump up to 10mb and that it will happen automatically for me if they determine that the exchange can handle the higher speeds. This is so annoying :<

Yup, I basically just got the same story, the upgrades are automatic and they will email and/or SMS you when they do the upgrade.

So who knows. Another Telkom mystery.
