Hisense Q8600 Thread

When I open the vidaa app Store it says service unavailable.

Anyone experiencing this? Not sure if my ad blocker is blocking it

Mine opens, but never updates or displays any new apps, No errors, just a blank screen with headings, it seemed to have stopped working a few months ago.
I never use the apps or watch via the TV tuner, I have it connected to an Nvidia Shield and always use that over the TV's built in functionality.

Mine opens up fine. I also never use the built-in apps except for Netflix to get Dolby Vision.

So we use the built in Netflix/prime/YouTube a lot. Easy for the kids and old people.

Wanted to check if there's any news apps on the store. Can you confirm if there is? I might have to reset the TV then.

Hello,

I just picked up a 55Q8600 from TAL and see that my Apple TV 4K doesn’t control the TVs volume. Does anyone have similar issues with this or any other streaming box? CEC is turned on on the Tv. In theory this should work. Works on my Samsung.

Also, more concerning, is the Dirty Screen Effect/Vignetting across the top, bottom and sides of the screen. See attachments. Not noticeable in dark scenes but It’s bugging me in normal viewing situations. Is this normal for the Tv?
Thinking of returning it. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I see the Q8600 is under 10k on Takealot. Reviews of the international equivalent (H9F) seem really good - I assume that's the correct equivalent. Can someone give their experience with the TV? Especially gaming. Thanks

What did you end up getting? I've tried the B8000 and the new A7200. Both not giving the best hdr "pop" for my 4k remuxes. Just upped my budget to R15k now.

If you want something thats going to give you that HDR "Pop" you need a tv that has either a very high contrast ratio such as an OLED (LG C9,CX, GX) or a tv with a high peak brightness (Q80R, Q90R, Q90T). Judging from your budget of R15K, I can say wait for the new Hisense U8QF ,as if it ends up being exactly the same as the overseas H9G, its going to be great at HDR judging from all the reviews.

Anyone know if the TV will get the VIDAA U 4.0 update?

And when? I can't seem to find info on it.

Didn't get one . Hoping the q8f is gonna be better.

Don't laugh but still using my 42inch lg plasma . And still happier than q8600 because most of my viewing is SD content

kikikiki that must have been a bad experience! I've already sold my 43" Samsung, so I have no option but to get something pronto!

It is pretty common for TV manufacturers to stop updating TV software when the particular model stops selling.
In fact it is pretty common on all hardware, not just TVs.

So don't bank on getting an update.

That would suck

Looking at the specifications, it is pretty much the Q6800. So you can expect a Q6800 at a new price with newer software. Hardware looks to be the same, perhaps with a slightly faster CPU or different CPU on the media player (speculation because the specs are the same so probably not). The panel specs are identical.

Because of that I just got the Q6800 since I'm using an external media player anyway and I don't much fancy paying the new price for the same thing (mostly). But maybe the price increase will be justified for you if you get the new version of the software.

the main issue i had was with screen uniformity and vignetting.
hoping it is better with the newer ones.
it wasn't just mine , i noticed it on shop displays at various store too.
if you like a bright screen you wont notice too much, i however use a much lower backlight setting than most.
