Good thing we do a few tests now and then I reckon.

I still think people need to do more in terms of voluntary testing.
True, but I think people would rather life with the fact not knowing than actually going and know for sure. I know I've been thru that
For sexually active people it's highly advisable to know ASAP - know and protect those you love and also start treating it at an early stage.

I'm sure they can technically push the test through very fast for priority things like emergency rooms etc.If only they could get a reliable instant test.... The wait is a mental killer![]()
If you have no penis or blood, can you still get HIV?
What the hell is that question's purpose?
And Africa knows it. I was in a bar in Cameroon about 2 years ago. Almost every local girl that came over to chat us up (that's how it works there) commented that we must have HIV the moment they heard we where from SA. This immediately caused them to double their going rate. Africa is certainly interesting!
So .... they are willing to have sex, knowing they may die, but they will only do that at double the rate? Talk about idiotic.
Desperate?
In order to protect the patient, blood is tested for various diseases that may be transmitted through blood transfusion. Each unit of donated blood is subjected to strict and rigorous testing and processing procedures. Once blood groups are verified, tests for various infectious diseases are conducted (such as HIV/Aids, hepatitis B and hepatitis C). The result of the HIV test is not disclosed to the donor. Also, due to the sensitive testing techniques, false positive results may occur.
