Home Connecta Flexi

@Cell_C: Any update on the Home Connecta Flexi promotion which has supposedly just ended?

It's still available for me.
Just wondering whether they are suddenly going to end the promotion in which case I may need to reactivate my service from Afrihost which could take some time.

Cellc has played a ruse on me. Since 12th December I have been using home connecta flexi in an area not officially covered according to Cellc coverage map. This was rolled over data that I had used in my previous network covered address. Yesterday I reloaded with R199.00 50/50gb. It's when Cellc realised that my current address is not supposed to be covered. They cut off my connection. No thanks to Cellc for taking my R199.00 and then disconnecting me.

Hi there

You checked and found that the new address is not covered on our coverage map. Was this prior to you purchasing the bundle?

Prior to purchasing new data. but old data was connecting despite the map saying no coverage.

Good day please can anyone help as there seems to be no info on the net.
First can a normal Cell C simcard be turned into the Connecta Flexi simcard by changing simply the tarrif plan ?
Second can i use a Connecta Flexi enabled Simcard on a Normal Cellphone ? Or do i Have to put it into a router with a sim card slot ?

Yes, you can migrate from a normal Cell C prepaid SIM to Home Connecta Flexi prepaid, the Ts and Cs state "Customers who have been active for less 10 day on the Cell C network will be allowed to migrate to the Home Connecta Flexi tariff plan." I've done this successfully. But be warned, the Ts and Cs also say "Once a customer has migrated into the Home Connecta Flexi tariff plan, they will not be able to migrate back to their original tariff plan." So much rather like the lyrics in Hotel California, you can check-out any time you like but you can never leave!

As for using the SIM in a normal cellphone or a router, I have used it in both, but the normal cellphone was an LTE-enabled device, so I'm not sure whether 3G will work.

Good day

Step 1

To activate Home Connecta Flexi, you need to buy a new Cell C SIM first. Insert the SIM into a cellphone to request a migration to the LTE tariff plan by dialing: *147# > My Account > Change tariff > Home Connector Flexi.

Step 2

You will receive on-screen confirmation that migration was successful. The migration process is immediate, and you will be able to load airtime or purchase a bundle on cellc.co.za, the Cell C app, or by dialing *147*LTE#.

Step 3

While the SIM is in the phone download the Cell C APP. Open the APP and register the number. You will receive an OTP as security confirmation. You can also link your new SIM number to your current Cell C number for ease of management of your data. After registration you can insert the SIM into your LTE router and enjoy. Not all phones support the SIM card.

But you won't be able to rollover your data from cellc app for your secondary cellc sim card. This is only possible with the primary sim card. @Cell_C please talk with your app developpers about this.

Cell C has added some new Home Connecta Flexi bundles (some include voice minutes etc.) if anybody else is interested. Will be sticking with my 50+50GB bundle for R199 for the time being though as the new offers don't offer me anything better at the moment.

Hi there

Thank you for the suggestion.

In the interim, you can insert the sim card in a device, then dial *109#, then follow the prompts for Data Roll Over.

What happened to prepaid Home Connecta Flexi 100GB for R199?
I joined Cell C because of it and have been using it for quite a few months now. This was such a good deal with 50GB+50GB at a reasonable price, but it appears to only be available on contract now. Oh well back to Telkom I go.

The promotion has been adjusted sadly.

Edit: They've got the 40/40 for R189, not too bad. And I'll admit that it's still pretty hard to find matching value elsewhere.

I see they just quietly discontinued the 50+50GB bundle for R199. Hopefully customers start to leave in droves as they keep making changes to the packages which just annoy the users like the bundle rollover nonsense. I am also looking around for a different provider as it seems that they will be charging us soon for bundle rollover.
