Ahhh its all budgetted for.. unfortuantely :(.....

I'm still jealous.. i likes that projector.. looks v v nice.

As promised some pics. The smile on my face when that picture first sized up on my wall. Note these are straight onto my wall (no screen yet) with no tuning at all.

The cats were also very interested :D

Lol you'll have plenty time to play with your new toy...

What I found with my projector is that a dark coloured wall will enhance your darker colours as seen in my pics and a white wall enhances your bright colours but causes your dark colours to look washed out... You need to find a balance. I haven't experimented with a grey though. Your display settings will help to compensate...

You get a special paint you can paint your wall with that has the same effect as the HiDef screen you get. I would look into that if I were you.

Looks amazingly clear morkhans... even MOAR jealous now....

Enjoy the new toy...

Thats pretty good :) If its not to much effort, you should bring it along if you come round on the weekend - we can compare the quality - projector to projector. I might end up selling mine :p Although you'r bulbs are double the price.

Thanks, still a bit of work and lounge re-arrangements to be done, but looking forward to this project :)

I can do. It might be difficult to compare because there are so many settings to tweak that effect the picture. Projector Central did however have a pretty good setup cheat sheet so we could use that.

Just a heads-up for people looking to source it locally. The EU model is: Epson EH-TW3600, it's exactly the same as this one.

Its not a stupid stupid price either here.. R15k from what I can see.

I know - and I just paid R13,000 for mine :( will be interesting to see some more in-depth reviews in time. Unfortunately, if I even attempt to buy or change anything electronic in our hour my other half will execute me.

Cheapest I could find was R15600, but on average I was being quoted R16k-R18k. Bringing it on my own including a ceiling mount, shipping, SARS etc. set me back R12600. The change bought me a Mede8er and a 2TB drive.

I also discovered the zoom feature this evening. I now have aprox 3m x 1.6m screen :D :D :D

Are there by any chance any calibration tools that can be used to calibrate my projector optimally?

I used the HD20 settings I found on avsforum - not sure if its meant for all set-ups, I just thought I'd give it a go - still need to test it though.

Still feeling a bit sick - think its the new diet - so might not test it tonight even.

Do you by any chance have a link to it? I've seen some calibration dvd's on the net, but not sure where to source them locally.

It was pointed out to me this weekend that most of the Pixar DVDs have calibration tools for sound and video under the setup menu.

Speaking of which - I still have the DVD - it was in the PS3... I must make a plan to get it back to the owner :
