Horrible internet experience lately

Hi all; Im considering Telkom for fibre.

I heard that if you take an online, or call centre deal - then the Telkom branches can't/wont assist you?
Is this true??

Yeah, streaming seems to be totally fixed as far as I can tell. Gaming, however, is another story.

Pretty sure it doesn't affect the whole of SA, but in PE at least, depending on the time of day it almost feels like you're playing on a totally congested exchange. Joined a game of Counter Strike with some mates - we're all in different parts of the city - and yet our ping spikes all at the same time to roughly 120-150ms, instead of the usual 60. Hopefully this gets resolved soon.

You spoke too soon buddy. It is still so broke I'm actually getting extremely angry about the whole thing. Using WA as ISP on Openserve Fiber. Every evening from 8-10pm latency is so high its ridiculous. Tonight, once again... Can't even stream anything. At this point in time Openserve, WA and IS can all go burn in hell. - edit: apart from the issues, the reason this is getting me so annoyed is because none of these 3 companies are communicating as to what is happening. I'd be quite fine if a proper explanation is given.

I am on fiber and guess what every fking evening i sit with 1000ms latency. Its 3 weeks now and not a single ISP is communicating as to wtf is going on.

Cant stream, cant game. Browsing is barely working.
 
I have been having steadily worse speeds also (Western Cape, Gordons Bay) on my DSL (Afrihost). Two years ago I used to be able to livestream easily at around ~700Kbps (same line, same ISP etc.), it's steadily deteriorated, these days I'm lucky if I can stream at 500Kbps without problems, I've even upgraded to 'unshaped' but it doesn't seem to help much (if at all). I don't know if the problem is with Afrihost or Telkom.

(*Edit* WA story - their support just helped resolve issue, going to try them to compare speed)

Yeah none of us are getting the answers we need.

Everything seems better than 2 weeks back but it still shows itself when i game.

Download: 8.05Mbps
Upload: 0.82Mbps
