How do you manage your passwords?

I tried to use lastpass but what a pain in my arse.
It was impossible for me to log into my webmail to check my other emails because lastpass would just keep changing the password back to the one for my main account.

The same goes for steam, minecraft, or any website where you would have more than one log in. Now I just stick them into a txt and encrypt that.

Disable autofill.

lastpass standard.

used to irritate the hell out of me before trying to remember what went where

Basically, I have 2 passwords which are either 1 quite long word (8-9 characters) or 2 short ones together with little changes (like "a"->"@" or "B"->"3", "i"-> "1" etc.) and few caps here and there. And then I use them as prefix and the site's name as suffix.
So for myBB, it would be password_myBB, and for Bidorbuy, password_bob, etc.
Very easy to remember!

...and very easy to crack if you guess / see just one.

Slightly off-topic - Installed an alarm for a customer and paid her a visit a few months later. She had written in black marker pen on her wall-mounted kitchen shopping list "ALARM 0974". So I got a green pot scourer from her sink and erased it. She swore she would now not remember the code, despite using it at least twice a day for 4 months

I use a formula, the formula includes aspects of the site or subject I am interacting with. As long as every password corresponds to the formula you will never need to remember the actual passwords. And every password is unique.

I have my brain, and a pdf that I store and a old phone in the safe that's switched off. Just encase I forget the passwords.

Even if they were hacked, it's highly unlikely anyone will decrypt your passwords before you've changed them all.
I really hope lastpass will make a public announcement the moment their data are compromised but I'm not confident they will. If a security company like lastpass is compromised it will be the end of the company. All trust will be gone.

frequent use of 'forgot password' option
or word associated with the context eg MBB = technology. Then the usual case/letter/symbol mix.
