How Harmony OS could take on Android

Huawei is preparing its own mobile operating system, HarmonyOS, to be well-positioned to replace Android if the need arises.

The Chinese manufacturer has recorded impressive smartphone sales in 2019 despite being affected by the US-China trade war.

Windows Phone could take on Android as well. So could BlackBerry OS, Symbian, and any OS you want to throw into the mix. Just because it can doesn't' mean it should.

They are all slow including Android. Symbian wasn't too bad.

Only way Harmony OS could take on Android is if China banned Android on all Chinese Manufactured phones nd making Harmony OS mandatory.

There are other avenues but I doubt huawei are going down those roads...

If it was something truly revolutionary with an easy way to build up a large volume of apps they'd have a chance, but even then it would be a long shot.

Back in the day I read Vivo and OPPO could make the switch too. Together with Huawei, they account for 30%+ of current Androids - and growing.

Imagine losing that chunk of business?

They're already preparing for a Life Less Google.

I've been interviewed to provide technical support for the Huawei Mobile Services in South Africa. The idea is that of Google Services are not present you can check for HMS and use that as an alternative.

They are preparing for that ... The customer on the other hand is probably not.

Can't load any os onto Huawei phones. Bootloader is locked.

The terrible thing with the situation is that Google don't want to lose a chunk of business ; they don't even want the risk of another competitor.

Huawei don't want this either. They want to work with Google and it helps them.

Trump is the only one that wants this :/
