How Harmony OS could take on Android

There are other avenues but I doubt huawei are going down those roads...

If it was something truly revolutionary with an easy way to build up a large volume of apps they'd have a chance, but even then it would be a long shot.
How big is the Chinese market? How dependent on it is Google, Apple and MS?

Depends how seamless the transition is. It also depends if Huawei is given a choice.

Of course... But never underestimate the inertia of the customer.. Google have that massively on their side.

Not a chance of this ever happening outside the borders of China. They can sit in their own country and fight Google from there. They will succeed with their communist attitude there. As for the rest of the world, we prefer Google. They are a stable company offering great products, services and support. Either you like Google or you don't. Either you leave them or you don't.

It's happening in South Africa already ;)

Ah but did Blackberry not believe the same?

Blacberry's death was brought upon themselves. They never moved with the changing times and by the time they did make the move, it was too late. Google is the moving times.

As predicted the preeck with a weeg in the US in the end will probably score an own goal. Another one.
Chinese market. Superior phones.
For about 3 years. Then they ran.
Trump is busy doing that for them.

Yesh well, Russia has an agent in the Oval Office...
Ever thought of putting these in one post?

Speak for yourself. Google is mostly a grudge use. Have an open alternative that isn't tied to a single platform and watch how people move.

I do speak for myself. The other millions of gMail users can speak for themselves.

As for me, moving to an alternative not tied to a single platform, no thanks. Don't want to wake up one morning with a notice that they have closed down and I have 30 days to download and get all my online content to a new platform.

I would much rather stick to an established and proven company - like Google, or perhaps even Microsoft.

And then I have to ask myself one more question, linking my business... would I want it linked to Google in the West or some Chinese company? I think, there is not really much to think about when it comes to which company / country I would trust more...

Gmail is a single aspect which can be replicated.

Well that is exactly what not sticking to a platform would prevent. But you are welcome to put all your eggs in one basket. Not like Google and Microsoft haven't canned products before.

How about not being linked to anyone?

Thanks Trump for fragmenting Android even more. Now each Android app has to be coded to load Huawei libraries and Google libraries. Different maps, different push notification system.
