But isn't it weird that I believed in the existence of soulmates, despite not believing in souls?

Not really. The term soulmates doesn't necessarily refer to souls as they're described in religious or new age terms. It's simply a description for a special kind of affinity and compatibility with someone. No need to burden the concept with superstitious and mystical nonsense.

Do I believe there's some kind of mystical, foretold-by-destiny kind of link between 2 specific people? No.
Do I believe some humans are more compatible (on specific fronts) than others? Yes.

I'd imagine you would be at Truth, dancing on the hard floor without a shirt. Hahah. (jeez that sounds a bit gay)

I just burst out laughing reading this, people all around me was staring thinking... WTF?!?!?!

@fanie.dry not all marriages work out like that. Sure, I would say the vast majority do, but there are plenty that dont.

I reckon that most of the people I know, have turned out just like you said above, but my relationship and there is one otehr couple that I can think of, do not function like that.

I wouldnt be too quick to paint everyone with the same brush.

My SO married me becoz she saw lots of potential in me, and she says Im good looking :D She knew all about my weakness and bad points, and still went for it. Im glad she did.

I married her because in 40 years time when we both look like ****, she will still be a better person inside than anyone I know.

Yeh, as per normal I'm overstating again.

And it isn't even the case with my marriage, it's more a joke I've heard which is sometimes applicable.

To be honest I know I have changed, and like Morty says, I would probably be an alcoholic, or died because of alcohol related incidents... Even now, when I go out without the wife, I get up to some fscked up schit, so I always try and take my wife along. That's why I call her my 'handbreak'. She can spot when Fanny Gone Wild is about to come out, and quickly steps in to hokaai stop die lorrie.

What's the old saying? A woman marries a man thinking he will change but he never does. A man marries a woman thinking she will never change but she always does. Something like that?

To be honest myself and my SO have not changed. We're pretty much very similar in attitude and what not. Only thing i did was stop partying, but that was by choice, I would be in a ditch right now licking blotters otherwise.

Didn't change me much expect that I now have to think about the SO before making certain decisions whereas I would have done as I pleased before :p
