Well if I want to connect the network upstairs to ours I'd run a ethernet cable between our switch and theirs. If they phrased it to route traffic to the internet then I'd have chosen router.

Then again networking isn't my specialty. So who knows.

That would probably still be considered the same network Though I think a layer 3 switch does routing as well, just to be difficult about it

I went with #2 switch. Still think it's the better choice.

I did the exact same, Switch will work to allow communication between two networks, they didn't say it had to be managed communication between two networks.

The switch one had me a bit, but having seen a cousins kids exam paper where they asked a true / false question being " a pdf cannot be edited" and the answer was true... Made me wonder about how the idiot who constructed this exam would have thought

To be fair... this is not actual mark question from the exams. The majority of the paper is programming
