A braai is South Africa’s answer to the barbecue – but it’s so much more than that. It’s a special South African feast that can last for hours, and there are plenty of rules and etiquette around a classic braai.
Too long, I would be passed out by thenUnpopular opinion - I always through South Africa were the braai/BBQ kings. Until I visited South America. And then the US.
I was at a braai in Brazil where the braai time was 8 hours. 8 hours with meat on the fire people circling and getting meat and new meat being added. The grid was full for 8 hours.
Then the US. The oaks in Austin are crazy. Smoking stuff for more than 12 hours. At perfect temperature. In the Texas heat. Those fellas are crazy...
Are you one of those guys that rocks up with a Shoprite thin boerewors pack for the braai and then once the food is braaid you help yourself to someones juicy steak?Other - whenever I'm invited to a braai.
FTFY.I barbecue randomly without rhyme nor reason. Fortunately I have a proper gas bbq.
So you don’t actually braai then, you just barbecue.Fortunately I have a proper gas braai.
Or the new trend is to bring PnP lamb chops as thin as paper and then grab the thick cut butcher's lamb chop. "Because it is all the same".Are you one of those guys that rocks up with a Shoprite thin boerewors pack for the braai and then once the food is braaid you help yourself to someones juicy steak?
How? Braaing is something even Cavemen could do! It's not rocket science.Once every 2 months because ultimately it becomes horrible tasting charcoal. So if its between that and a restaurant in Sandton we know who wins lol.
Although i do like to use the air fryer more these days..
Sometimes I bbq, sometimes I braai, and sometimes I grill - that's the versatility of the Weber Q.So you don’t actually braai then, you just barbecue.
Wooden fire? Makes it sound like I'm cremating pinocchio.FTFY.
No wooden fire, no gees, no braai.
I try to buy a 20kg lamb every 3 to 4 months. And about twice a year bakkie/1000 pieces rooikranz wood. That way I can braai whenever I want. The real question is how much do you spend on a daily braai? I know for a fact @mbayshark spends at least R400 per braai
Cavemen ate their meat well done. Well they had to because they had to kill all the worms and nasties and smell because no fridges....How? Braaing is something even Cavemen could do! It's not rocket science.
Rykgatatleast 3 times a month ..these days on weekends i end up eating out most of the times
but if im home then its a braai
You have quite a lot to say for someone who doesn't know the difference between a steak and a samoosa. Are you one of those guys that rocks up with a Shoprite thin boerewors pack for the braai and then once the food is braaid you help yourself to someones juicy steak?
