On the Telkom "unlimited" LTE package for R799 (Now 300gb capped)

Does anyone know how to check monthly usage stats so I can see that I don't cross the newly imposed limit? A ussd code to dial from the router perhaps or where to view this on the pretty much useless mytelkom site? I know that the huawei b315 show statistics for current months usage under http://192.168.8.1/html/statistic.html. This is not what I am looking for.

Getting really slow speeds and constant disconnects.

send an empty sms from the B315 to 188 and you will get a reply like this:
Hello! You have used 10863 MB of your inclusive SmartBroadband Uncapped Wireless service.

Thanks man, that helps.

See no reason why my account should be throttled. Should I assume there's some other problem?

Yes you should totally try and force the LTE back to 2100MHz. You could be on the 1800MHz band which is slower.

Thanks for the advice here. Looks like I have some better throughput now.

First looked for better reception around the house. and then force the router on TDD 2300MHz only mode. Pretty simple once you get into it.

Anyone know when Telkom will have the poynting antennas again, been promised it will be soon for the last 4 months... Still running on bunny ears.

Well you need to follow up and rush them. That antenna makes a massive difference. I'm glad you got the toolbox sorted.

There you can switch between bands where 4 is 1800MHz and 8000000000 is 2300MHz.

1800MHz usually slower download speed because it has less spectrum but has a decent upload speed. Penetrates buildings better and for me personally gives a better latency.

2300MHz usually the fast band with ample spectrum giving decent download speeds a slightly slower upload but good all rounder. Signal can travel a nice distance but does not penetrate building so well.

I see your SINR is only 8dB which is not good for -79dB RSRP signal. SO you are very close to the tower but because you using bunny antennas there is a lot of signal noise causing the instability. External antenna installed properly will probably give you a excellent connection.

Only way you get the antenna is to log calls for bad signal and have a tech come out to test the signal.
