This is the same company that said Mixit was going to compete with Whatsapp.
According to Vodacom spokesperson Richard Boorman, VoIP quality is inherently variable as it competes with other traffic and cannot always keep up – hence the breaks in conversation.
“We envision a future approach whereby VoIP traffic is prioritised to ensure a decent service, and that a premium would be charged for this. This is more likely to happen once LTE is up and running,” said Boorman

MXit’s new boss tackles BBM, WhatsApp, Facebook

Local - Vodacom to Vodacom only.
MXit will need to do a lot to get people in the rest of the world to adopt it. I have friends in Europe, the USA and Australasia using Whatsapp, why would they want to change to MXit?Interesting, I then agree.
If MXit can wake up and develop a proper messaging platform app with notifications similar to Whatsapp, id rather use MXit to be honest, Its South African after all and with some users not in favour or undecided on the Facebook whatsapp merge, yes MXit can take over the market, again.
Well that's useless ... what use is an article if if tells half the truth?:wtf:

Scary to think a lot of people sell themselves here as network experts but get the basics of the TCP/IP stack so confused.
Vodacom never prioritized Skype traffic, nor de-prioritized any other protocol (outside of the bulk downloaders on BIS).
