HTC DESIRE HD

Here are some cool apps that I came across

Mobility Weather - just for the wow factor.
3G watchdog - to watch your data usage
APNDroid - manages your APN
Barcode scanner - uses the camera to scan QR Codes containing URLs, contact info etc
Dolphin Browser HD - browser
Google sky map - very cool app for when you can see the night sky clearly
Instant Heart Rate - uses the camera to check your heart rate
PhotoDroid - for all the photographers out there ... very nice golden hour app + moonrise and moon set and moon phases
Task Manager - for killing control
Timeriffic - setup different profiles at kick in at different times

Angry Birds - need I say more
Android lightsaber - because I can't afford a real one
Abduction - cute time killer
Blow up lite - don't kill the panda
atilt 3D - tilting game ... :)
Chess - no explanation needed

Gonna check them out!

I feel like a bit of a pansy, cos I haven't downloaded a lot of apps yet. Still too used to the Apple app store, I guess....where everything was password first. On Android market you just pick what you want & download it. :)

Only have downloaded My BB, News 24, Engadget, XE Currency & ColorNote. (I need my sticky notes on my home screen).

Spent a long time deciding between the iPhone 4 and the DHD.. Coming from the rock solid piece of equipment that the iPhone 3G is and how everything in iOS just works it was a difficult choice leaving the iphone behind.. hope it was the right one
Waiting for her to finish charging before taking it for a spin

Oh, and that battery cover...f!@#, took 10 mins to get it back on :)

Quick question... does anyone know of an app available that will change scenes based on a schedule? I find the scenes very handy, but it would be awesome if it automatically switched to "Work" at say 8am.

might wanna check out Timeriffic

hows battery life so far? i'm on charge number 5 and still battling to get more than a day out of it??

btw, on lcd screens, since the backlight is part of it, and not a separate light source(like led lit backlights), does it make a huge difference in power consumption, whether the brightness is at like 25% or 50%?

plus, are task killers really evil? been riding quite a few sites deeming them unnecessary and kill more battery power then the task they actually kill..

Hmmmm..

I'm actually gonna get 24 hours on my second charge - a bit perplexed, cos I've been using it non-stop and amused myself with endless previews of multiple satnav destinations. :)

Using the slate theme at the mo, so don't have an animated background anymore + not using any task killers.

Got mine at 11am this morning too. After trying many MTN stores a kind store owner told me to just phone MTN Direct. I did on Monday and the phone arrived via airmail this morning. Obviously I'm lucky enough to be due for an upgrade this month.

I'm still grinning from ear to ear. Couldn't resist turning on the phone on. I had to.... I had 5 work colleauges crowding around my desk waiting to see it light up. Also battled a bit with the battery cover. Managed to get it off and one with my sweaty palms.

I had the old Sony Ericsson C902 so this the HD phone is like space age.

Welcome to the family! Can promise you that you won't look back, I have also used an iPhone before the Desire HD, but now the iPhone is stowed away. :)

*Android might be a bit overwhelming at first, but once you get the hang of it (took me less than a day), it's simply fantastic to use.

That is a HUGE upgrade!

Enjoy your new Desire HD! :)

Thanks, can't wait to spend some quality time. Just me and my phone.

BTW, for all you Sony Ericsson users, there's a very good free app called My Phone Explorer. Recently they added Android support so you can easily migrate your data from your old phone into your new Android. :)

Thx rob :)
Gonna keep the iphone as an mp3 player for gym etc, the HTC is a bit big for that
Anddddd my charge light just turned green, time to play! :D

Are you playing any games, I seem to get about 8-9 hours out of mine.

2g only
wifi off
bluetooth off
gps off
auto rotate off
auto sync off

Static background
low brightness (about 20%) on display.

granted, been downloading a lot of apps and playing about 40mins of games.

Still feels like I should be getting more out of it?

You HTC Desire HD boys are adorable....blabbing on for 71 pages over one phone! :-)

Stoooopid 'berrys don't quite give rise to the same enthusiasm, eh? :p ...and I don't even have one; rocking an HTC Desire HD Mini this side. Normal old-school Desire with the HD's software.

omg what a breeze to import contacts from the iphone 3g.. :D

No, haven't played any games....yet. Worried that Angry Birds might become too addictive. :)

Anything graphics related will drain your battery much faster. Same with a notebook - fire up Half Life 2 on your notebook and see how fast your battery drains.

Also bear in mind that the battery life will only start "stretching" after 5 or 6 charges. The correct way to do it is to let the battery run completely flat (phone switches off) for the first four charges, then do it once a month.
