HTC DESIRE HD

The more I use this phone the more I wonder why anyone would consider an iphone

I just watched my first movie on my phone, in Dolby Mobile nogal. :)

It's brilliant! All I did was to select "Mass storage device" when I connected my phone to my pc, created a folder on the memory card called "Video" & copied the avi file to the folder on the memory card. The movies app picks it up immediately and just tap on the movie to start it. Normal stereo is good, but the sound is excellent with Dolby Mobile!

Can see myself easily killing two hours on the next flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg.

Just loving this phone more & more.

2 hours and your battery :D

I am getting the same thing. It is telling me that it is switched off and says I need to enable it. I have it enabled though...

Make sure your HTC Sense account sync has been enabled, mine didnt work till a enable the sync option on the phone under settings, accounts and sync. Hope this helps

If anyone is still having problems with HTC Sense, just uninstall from your PC and your phone and then reinstall. Works perfectly for me now!

Kingrob, wanna share some popcorn for our movie nights :)

ok i have a slight problem. I got the Desire HD and it worked well for a couple of days. I downloaded the navigation package for South Africa (and payed almost R280 for it), but then the phone broke. They swapped the phone for a new one - no problem at all. Do I now have to pay again to download it? There is an option to put in a voucher code to download something, but where do I get this? I checked all my email addresses plus the googlemail one and nothing from the Android Market or anything like that...

I made no comparisons

May I finish my story please?

I am now a proud owner of the HTC Desire HD. Got it just over an hour ago. I compromised the Blackberry Torch with BIS for the sake of seeing what all this runcuss are about. It looks great from first impressions. I still have to configure the beast. So I am not sorry at all I stumbled in here yesterday.

Thanks guys. A for great thread.

Now to upgrade to Android v2.3.

That light above your head isn't a bulb ... It is the 4.3 inch Desire HD screen at full brightness ... :)

Question - is the phone supposed to stay off when you pick it up - i.e. you push the power button to activate the screen?

Pick it up how? When it's ringing or just picking it up from a flat surface? If the latter then yes, the screen stays off until you press the power button.

you say that but ACSA still deems cellphones switched on during a flight to be illegal, i dont know why, radio and gsm work on different bands and just are not the same really

but ya wud be cool!

Ok... thought the proximity sensor or something would know when its in my hand :p

:D

What is pretty cool is that it will ring louder when it's being carried in a bag or pocket - I guess the built-in gyros pick up movement. It will also quieten the ringtone when you pick it up off a flat surface when ringing, and if I recall also switch on the speakerphone automatically if you turn it face-down once a call is connected.
